IndustRail

Coconut God
Been fiddling with a DD40, updating to 2.9 build, decided the first one should be for Phil Skene's IndustRail route, why not. Other reskins may follow, in real life the UP was the only road to operate these 6600 horsepower monsters, but this is a game.

That's the unweathered prototype, still gotta clone and grunge it up. Original used the SD40 cab for some reason, even tho there is a DD40 cab built in, so I cloned that and jazzed it up;

Probably another couple weeks, I really have little talent for weathering so it takes me a while.

Working on that, day 2 was just reducing hue and saturation, and PM2IM adjust speculars to get some of the shine off;

Then see if I can get lucky and not overweather it;

An aside here, I got it set up for ARN with low 8000 and high 8500, with 500 numbers to choose from what are the odds of getting two 8384s in a row with two different clones? I should play that number in the lotto, hey? Anyway cloning that one for a fourth, put him to work hauling coal to get him dirtier;

8400 tons is actually a bit much, won't make it all the way up a 2.5% grade with all that. 6600 horses, good rule of thumb is about 1 ton per horse if you want to get any kind of speed or climb hills.

Usual screwups when the Three Blind Mice use the wrong paint colors, save those for other roads. :hehe:

Shiny silver instead of greasy oily rusty, decided the bogeys needed to be cloned and weathered;

Darker and less saturated maybe, still working on tweaking it.

Trying to drag 18,000 tons of coal up Mojave with two of these, after an hour climbing the grade was down to 3mph in run 8, so I decided to add another helper.

That should do it. :hehe:

"that should do it" Famous last words...try to to land on a cactus when you join the birds! :eek: :hehe::hehe:

Funny part is it actually helped, altho that 44 tonner uses the Alco FA-1 engine spec and is therefore overpowered by 3 or 4 times what it should be. Another back burner project, gotta find or hack a more appropriate engine spec for the little guy - should be something like 350 or 400 horses, the spec it's using is more like 1600.
