importing routes

I imported a route I had done in trs 06 or trs 09 . I seem to remember its an old route. I imported into trs 2012 and there are only a some items missing but what I found to be interesting is it replaced the majority of the trees and shrubs etc with new ones. The trees must be what is referred to as speed trees as they are blowing in the wind. Im not complaining, I found it interesting that this occurred all by itself. So now ,I think I'll go in and redo some of the ground texture that is missing and redo the trestles etc. then I can post some screenies, if I can remember how to do that.
Does anyone know if the old trainz map still works in 2012 or is there a new one.

Hi Larry,

Trainz Map no longer works, sadly.

There is a replace assets utility built right into TS12 though. This is off the menu in Surveyor. Go to the Surveyor assets list and place what you want to replace and what you want to replace it with by dragging the items into the appropriate fields. You can't replace road junctions bridges, trains, stations, or other interactive industries, but everything else is replaceable.

Yes, some of the older assets, in particular trees, are updated to the newer ones. Now regarding Speed Treez. You might want to consider those by McGuirel. Her Ultra Treez are awesome and look much better than the default ones. There are others to by Gawpo50, and Pofig. Pofig's are available on his website only. I can't remember the link offhand, but others have it.

There are also plenty of new textures available with seasons in them so you can have snowy tracks, and snow on the ground with bare trees as well as leaves in the other seasons with appropriate textures for then as well.

Thanks, I downloaded a bunch of McGuirel stuff and it looks good. Too bad about the trs map, this route is so big I have no idea where it goes. and as usual, its a fictious route so that allows me to be creative. I guess Ill have to walk it and see where all it goes.

I found soon after acquiring TS2010 that the trees were updated in my own routes, made in TRS2004, which I imported. I was quite pleased as they looked so much better than the originals.

Larry,

In TS2012 you can zoom way out and see the route this might help. It's like going into map but all you're doing is scrolling the mouse-wheel.

Getting it figured out, its starting to come back. The old route I imported is beginning to look better already. Spent lots of time downloading items,it seems slower then before. I seem to remember there was a download thing you could use, don't know if that is still there.

Hi Larry,

There's the big Download Station with all the stuff (assets) with more and more better stuff every day. :) I recommend getting one of those First Class Tickets (FCT) because of the 100MB limit. The files are getting larger too because of additional information in many of them. This would surely eat up your 100MB in an instant.
