I'd like to ask "the question" ??? - "Uploading"

Ray, with that many downloads of your work, I would have to guess that you are a well respected member of the Trainz community. I'm sure many folks will welcome more work from you.

Cheers......Rick

Ray, in the case of your modules, you made it abundantly clear what they were, they are useful to many people. You are not the problem, the problem is blank boards with the track going off the edge or blank boards with two buildings and an oval of track with the description of awesome route or Ooooooooo or tesssssst that sort of rubbish.

Well, agin' I'm agin' it. Even assuming you could get a team of 438 "respected members" (respected by who, there are some content creators fawned over by the masses that I have zero respect for) to be the judges and make it so all 438 would have to vote unanimously against an upload before it was denied, you would still get stuff that some people might be looking for that exact thing and it got disapproved.

Never gonna get N3V to do anything about it anyway, they won't even supervise all the 10 year olds volunteering for the DLS cleanup project. Those of you with TS12 can check this out easily with one of the built in locos;

RS3 - Norfolk & Western 307,<kuid:52779:307>

Try driving that in CAB mode instead of DCC. Won't move. Why not? Engine spec is Alco RS3,<kuid2:52779:50001:1> which is a "fix" for the original "faulty" Alco RS3,<kuid:52779:50001> engine spec. Whoever the kid was who "fixed" it merely stripped out lines of code until it stopped producing error messages, and uploaded that. It passes all the tests, but all the throttle and dynamic brake data are no longer there, so it won't move in CAB mode. Can't find the thread now since the forum search is still busted, but the title was something like "DLS cleanup faulty fixes", and the developers stated they had no need for adult supervision to stop volunteers from uploading KUID2 replacements which busted things that formerly worked. If they're not gonna supervise the DLS cleanup project with anything other than a 'bot, they're not gonna do that for new uploads either.

Hit the nail right on the head!!!

(Ray, your stuff is certainly not the problem)...

Cheers, Mac...

I'm with sniper on this. The DLS is a digital commons and people have a right to graze their sheep there even if we think the animals look half dead and the wool rancid. We're all members of the same community and we all have equal access. Today's 10 year old with an oval of track and an engine is potentially tomorrow's super landscape scenario creator.

"That explains why most of my uploads are stuck at 30"
Actually I like your stuff but nobody else does, so to encourage you I download and delete everything you upload 30 times. ;)

Thank you to those who wrote to suppport my UK station modules. I'm certainly encouraged to do some more (I had names planned running through the alphabet!) - when I get time, that is. At the moment I'm working on a building which I first made some forty-five years ago in card, etc. - 4mm scale. The textures are proving to be somewhat difficult ...

Probably the wrong answer again but anyway

Hi Mac,
years since we talked!

i would guess for the last 7 years at least I'd never dl routes from there anyway (and if i did I deleted them almost right away because was not what I expected).
First thing i do when Trainz releases new stuff with routes I carefully disable them. Does not mean they are bad just different.
I have different standards of QA on any route and since most if not all are still built the old way it is for me a no brainer and stay away and do my thing.
Maybe we should have an outside server where we could have only top quality stuff....
Ok to much said again I back off now.

Have a nice day

Roy:eek:

Hi Roy,

Yes, it is a while since we last chatted. Been keeping an eye on the development of your Canadian Rocky Mountains route. Seems to be coming along nicely. Looking forward to it's release...

Yeah, I'm not to sure what the answer is with some of these "young ones" uploading ___p to the DLS. As much as I would like to see something put in place to reduce some of the "nippers" c__p, I think it would be pretty hard to have some sort of minimum standard in place. Where would you set the bar (how high/low) and who would police it ???

Cheers, Mac...

Really?

Assets:
  • AAAAAA! Real trains,<kuid:414773:100001>
    • Description: "The letter A stands for amazing."
  • AAAAAA! Real trains,<kuid:414773:100002>
    • Description: "3 whole trains that can do nothing but derail. Feel the excitement."
Author: Auran.
Thumbs: Mainly black baseboard with a few scattered tree's.

Please tell me this is a bug in my CM.

If not, then I think that basicly means this whole discussion is useless (if it wasnt already) if that is the stuff / new level of quality thats being uploaded by Auran.

KUID links to GPavlich, and their profile states they are a QA Tester (Quality Assurance).

That said, all I find for them on the DLS are consists, no layouts/routes. The consists are basically ALL the ones that ship in TS12 - which all or most are just consists of cars. (The thought that someone was involved in all the quickdrive place-able consists have NO locomotives being a QA tester is frightening....)

Look at the build number, 3.7 that says beta to me as we are only up to 3.6, probably testing uploading at a guess?
