I have an extra hard drive that keeps disappearing?

I have installed an extra hard drive to hold all of my Trainz system and DOWNLOADS!:hehe:
Everything runs just fine when I'm using trainz.
I have this thing that happens quite often If I use programs loaded on my C drive
My new drive seems to go away and when I go into explorer sometimes My new hard drive does not show up in the explorer. I have to do a restart of the computer and then it will show up again in the explorer. The drive is listed as K/drive
and I have no idea how I came up with that letter.
I'm sure someone on here can give me some tips on how to remedy this situation.

The letter "K" was the next available alphabetically probably.
Does trainz still start even though not showing using explorer ? If so don't worry about it.
Another way, control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management. Another way to list your drives.

Well sometimes my shortcut on the desktop will not work. It says ti can't find the exe or something
to that effect. And I have to do a restart and after that everyrhing works fine again.

Open the trainz drive, then the bin folder, you'll see a launcher icon. Send a shortcut to desktop. Try that.

I always have to restart the computer. Today I'm going to start cleaning out my C drive
and nothing is going to spared. I have so many things in that drive that I don't even know what they are. So it's time for Spring Cleaning

USB drive? look at the power saving settings, Windows is probably shutting down the USB port.

Have a look at the control panel, programs and features. remove the unwanted from there.
A defrag when you've done (as long as it's not an SSD).
