This is in South Africa by the sound of it. The English subtitles (click CC) are a bit odd, but you can catch the gist of the conversation.

I wonder if the rails were stolen for scrap. This actually happened down in Taunton, MA a few years ago.

I found this in the news...

A Passenger steam locomotive travelling from Pretoria to Cullinan derailed just after passing through Rayton. Thieves had stolen about 200 metres of the track overnight. The train was only going at 20km/h and minimal injuries were reported. The damage to the train is estimated at over R700 million.

Thieves will wheel into scrap yards, manhole covers, and RR signal wiring, graveyard crypt bronze folding gates ... etc ... in a shopping cart, and scrap yards are to not accept these obvious pilfered items, and to call police
