I am retired!

I do not want to have to get a degree in programming, IT services, or electrical engineering to use a sim. I want to enjoy the sim, not have to correct things or worry about developers making things worse and get ulcers from the headaches it has caused or may cause. I am begining to belive that software companys can not produce a reliable product that works correctly on a bet

thats not the way to be :-( just wait till it gets fixed, i for one play trainz 12 and railworks. so i go back and forth, keep in mind its only been a few days since sp1 was released, things will get sorted out, i get frustrated as well i just wanna drive trains lol

Welcome George,

enjoy the fullest your retirement and not forget to read between the lines on the forum.
I agree to 'please' everybody and make a reliable product takes more than an effort.
Hey Nuggett, CPR route 57720 SP1 is up and running and not to bad so let me know if you want the fixed 3rd party cdp's on my website to make a healthy cmp dbase.

Recognise all software has a problem with reliability, no exceptions apart from one or two very simple odd odd things that the military plays with. Having said that Trainz isn't doing too badly considering the complexity of the product.

Choose the content fairly carefully ie stick with TS12 sp1 error free assets and there are quite a few and you should just be able to sit back and enjoy. However if there are some small delays whilst the content you like is sorted out try your hand at content creation http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Tutorial_for_Blender#Newcomers_start_here

Have fun.

GeorgeCW, you've been around for a while; you've seen this all before. Let the dust settle a bit. I had no problems downloading or patching. Only a few assets were affected by the patch. The biggest problem I encountered was a certain very SNOTTY NV3 programmer who got on line ripping my procedures, and him knowing absolutely NOTHING about what HE was talking about!

It was pw3r, whoever that is. I spent over 35 years in engineering positions. The first lesson one learns is to think first, then put one's foot in one's mouth!

That would be Terry Palmer who is one of the programmers at N3V Games.

Ive seen a few incidents involving him.

Hi guys,

Just letting you know that you're all walking the wrong side of the very fine line here. While it's fair enough to have your own opinions about your own work and about your interactions with our staff, please remember to keep things civil. Since I know Terry and you guys don't, let me jump to his defense and say that, while he's a fairly young fellow, he *really* knows his stuff and is very committed to the project. I'd take him on my team over many 30+ years-experienced developers. Age does not beget wisdom, sadly. I don't want to see people badmouthing him, or anyone else on the N3V team, or anyone else on the forum, full stop. It's bad manners, and it's very much against our code of conduct. He works very hard to make the product right for you, and he posts here out of working hours because he wants you to have a good experience, not because he's paid to do it.

If you have a specific problem with something he, me, or anyone on the forum has said to you, then please use the 'report' forum link or talk to our helpdesk. The chances are that it's just a misunderstanding and that you're jumping at nothing, but of course we do review such incidents when they are reported to be sure that we're holding up our end of things.

Everybody does make mistakes (factual, memory, wording, or otherwise) from time to time, and in a text forum you can also very easily misunderstand somebody else's point or mistake an innocent question as a heated attack. We lack the social cues that help prevent this kind of thing in face-to-face contact. That doesn't give you an excuse to openly disparage people. If I see this kind of thing again then there will be bans.

You should feel ashamed of yourselves.

Hi Chris,

Apologies if my comments were taken as attacking other members - I have Aspergers Syndrome which affects how I portray myself, and sometimes results in me saying things that I don't mean, or mis-word a message so it appears to attack someone when I do not intend to attack anyone on these forums.

Shane

P.S. Regarding the patch comment on the other thread - I will respond on their to answer that one. Also, if I can make amends please tell me, as I do not really want to get banned and not be able to help those in need of my help.

Not aimed at you specifically mate, but at the general tone of this conversation. It's really not appropriate.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Nothing's required other than to think carefully about my post and not continue with those kind of personal accusations. As I've said elsewhere recently, I really don't like banning community members who are just having a bad day; we'd have to ban everyone :)

kind regards,

chris

Thankyou for your response Chris - I do appreciate it. I'm not here to make personal accusations, although I do understand that it has happened a few times lately.

Shane

P.S. Just realised I spelt 'there' wrong on my last post...
