Hello, I just building a light rail route and I want to show it off of what I made. How do you use the screen shot feature, if any. I try to press print screen and it came up black. So how do you show your pics of your works. Do I have to do it in surveyor mode or in driver mode? Thanks.

Okay thanks Bill. And yeah I did press "Print Screen and copy it to either Word pad or Ms Paint and it still comes up black. Or unless I was doing it wrong...

you need a Program that can read .tga files, such as JASC paint shop pro, photoshop etc.. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 its older but very easy to use and great program for any Graphics/photo related stuff.

Hi Kon,

My printscreen files are saved in the screenshots folder as .jpg files not .tga and they have to be .jpg files to host on most webpages.

Cheers,

Yes, older versions of Trainz save screenshots in .tga format, not .jpg. They're easy enough to convert into JPEG though, using a graphic program like Photoshop or Paintshop as has been stated, but those programs are paid software, where there are plenty of free programs around which will do the same thing.

The GIMP is one that I see frequently recommended on these forums, but Irfanview can also convert graphic file formats too, and both of them are freeware. Irfanview can also easily view .tga files as well, so it's up to you whether you want to keep them 'as is' and just view them in that, or convert them to .jpg for uploading to a website.

Incidentally, it should also be noted that Trainz 1.3 and earlier versions do not have a screenshot function (or at least, none that I'm aware of), so if you happen to still be using that, you'll need a program like FRAPs to take screenshots, although personally, I'd just recommend upgrading Trainz to a more modern version. ;)

Just so you know, my Trainz version is 2.6 on both TRS2006 and TC. So thus does this version have a screen shot function? If so, how do I access it?

Well, I only have TRS 2004, but I see no reason why Auran would have removed the screenshot function in later versions (in fact, several others posted that they've saved screenshots in TRS 2006 so I guess it does have one. :D

As for how to take screenshots, someone mentioned in an earlier post, that you simply hit the 'Print Screen' key on your keyboard to take a screenshot (the key usually next to Scroll Lock).

Screenshots saved in Trainz usually are saved in a folder named 'screenshots' in your Trainz folder on your hard drive, so you'll have to open up the Trainz folder under Program Files in order to copy them or view them.

Just a quick pointer about the "prtscn " key, If, like me , you have a wireless keyboard with an F lock key, make sure the F lock is OFF before taking the screenshot.

prtscn on these keboards shares with another function.

cheers
Roy

I "PrtSc" and by using Irfanview (Free Download) I open my TRS2006 "File Location"...open "Screenshots" Folder and rename each screenshot to a suitable recognizable name that can be easily recalled. Then I "New Batch Conversion" the unreadable TGA image, into a usable jpg image. (With 09 version , this is unnecesary as it is already a jpg image).

Hey guys I found the screen shot folder. I just didn't know how to access the screen shot feature, thats all. Thanks Enkidoh for showing me where it is. Now all I have to go is to find which program supports the .tga files. I just follow the suggestions of the other posters about the .tga files and open it from there. So again, thanks Enkidoh for showing me where that folder was. :)
