Simplest way of doing it:
EDIT: It is strongly advised to register your serial number first, as it may not patch without it.
Before installing the patch, make sure your DirectX is up to date, and if you are using Windows XP, it must be running Service Pack 3.
1.Download the 42203 to 44088 patch from
http://download.ts2009.com/patch/42203_to_44088.exe.
2.Turn off your antivirus software and disconnect from the Internet - also make sure that Trainz is
not running.
3.If you are using Windows Vista or 7, right-click the file you just downloaded and click Run as Administrator. If you are using Windows XP or earlier, simply double-click the file.
4.If you changed the install location when installing Trainz, use the .. button at the top to select the correct folder.
5.Click Apply Patch.
6.A progress bar will appear at the bottom - this is the point where you leave it to do it's thing.
The patch may appear to stop about halfway through - as long as it has not said Patching Aborted in the log (the text in the main section of the window) then it is still working - do not cancel it.
Once it is done, you should get a Close or Exit button appear - this indicates it is safe to exit the patcher.
Once the patch is done, you can re-enable your antivirus and reconnect to the Internet.
