G'day,
I make it a rule that everything that I download from the DLS, I save as a CDP and put it in a special folder, which I regularly backup to my internal drive. My trainz is instaled on an external HD.
The route I am working on is also regularly saved as a cdp, and stored on my internal drive. So in case of something happening to the drive where trainZ is installed, all I have to do is re-install the proggy and the added content and routes. Re-installing the lot might be a bit time consuming, but at least I wouldnt have to D/L everything again.
I learned the hard way to back everything up when last year my external HD wwas damaged and lost thousands of photographs i've taken over the past few years. it would have costed me a small fortune to retrieve the lost data.
It is also advisable to back things up on CD or DVD,twice.
Havs a good one
