Another tip - if you happen to need to use Surveyor to take the screenshot, use Ctrl and the space bar to achieve a similar effect (repeat the process to revert it back).

Shane,
I think that only works to toggle the flyouts on/off screen. So, if Surveyor has the
Track flyout selected, with the
Add object button pressed, the arrows won’t disappear.
It can sometimes be better to select another flyout first, preferably Topology (F1), or Paint (F2) where arrows never show (unless your cursor is floating over a junction). However, in Surveyor, the compass will always show, unless you use the Walk or Fly options...
To walk: Hold
Alt whilst typing
walk in older versions.
Alt + Y in newer versions.
To fly: Hold
Alt whilst typing
fly in older versions.
Alt + U in newer versions.
To go at double speed when walking and flying, hold
Ctrl whilst using your navigation keys.
I find the Fly option best for Surveyor based screenshots, not just because it clears the clutter very effectively, but because it allows complete freedom to travel in all three dimensions where you can get some really great angles.
Here you can find plenty more hints.
