How to Reskin the 4-8-2?

I'm wondering how I can reskin the Mountain type locomotive that can be found of the DLS?

I'm looking to do a T&P version. There is a version available on the DLS already, but despite it's claim to be a prototypical road number, it is not - at least not for a Mountain type. Furthermore, I'd like to skin a version to the T&Ps Texas Eagle colors to use with my newly-skinned T&P passenger cars.

I was just wondering what the process for reskinning these locos involved, as it seems to be quite different than I am used to...

Thanks!

Download the original Frisco Mountain, and ask the original author for permission to reskin. Use a graphics program to reskin the graphics files in the folder, and make your changes to the config file to reflect your changes, and add your kuid #. Thank the original author and distribute as he allows.

Make sure you add the prototypical running numbers so no one comes back later and throws it in your face. Enjoy.

Well, Euphod, I will follow your great example! Haha - I didn't pay very close attention, but after your post, I felt a little ashamed. I meant no offense! I love the loco! And until two days ago I had no idea that number wasn't used on that type of loco!

Acording to this website ( http://www.texaspacificrailway.org/?p=5 ), #300 was a 4-6-0 freight loco. The Mountains started with #900 and ran only through #909. The first 5 were made by Schenechtady, the last 5 were made by Baldwin. I doubt it would be hard to renumber your locomotive. Your scheme is spot-on for #909! I think it's the same for several of the others as well, but it is a little hard to tell with the b/w photos on the above site...

Have you done any other versions? Could you help me in making a version such as this? ( http://www.texaspacificrailway.org/?id=201&cat=8 )

Again, no offense meant towards your model. And thanks for the help already!

No worries, I'm rarely seriously offended by anyone, but I like to joke around alot.

I'm currently working on two other requests right now, and I have an occular disease that prevents me from doing a great deal of detail work. Allow me to put this on my short list, and I'll see if my son can help me work on it.:D

That sounds great! I wouldn't have a problem doing it myself, but the formatting of the folder for the Mountain is different than I am used to. It appears to be textures used for the 3D model rather than 1 skin - am I right?

Regardless, the structure make it a little more difficult to judge were the details of the skin should go...
