How to remove -3:11061 passengers from a route

****UPDATE****- I think I may have managed to solve this at last!

After a flash of inspiration this afternoon, I've opened the route (making sure the configs still reference -3:11061 in the kuid table) then deleted missing assets. I've then saved the route and session as. I've opened the route again and selected a station, then changed the initial passenger count- and the passengers have re-appeared! This saves replacing the station which is the biggest hassle.

Hang on until I work my way through the entire route and I'll let you all know if this is successful, I also have to see if the instant passenger load will also now work, which doesn't use a station.

Looking at the configs the passenger reference is missing so it may not be quite right yet.

Looks like we are on to a winner here, after changing the passenger initial count on all the invisible stations and replacing the mini-coaches, -3:11060 is now showing in the route and session dependency list :)

-3:11061 is well and truly exorcised...

As a follow up to Tony's success, I removed -3:110061 from my TS2012 and installed Tony's route and session (the one he refers to above with passenger kuid -3:11060).

It worked fine. Then I reinstalled -3:11061 but only after deleting the obsolete entries. Tony's session still ran perfectly with -3:11060. My other routes still worked with -3:11061. Fantastic!

So it can be done folks.

Thanks again Tony

Cheers

Tony,

Would you mind giving us some step-by-step instructions on how you did this?

Thanks,

John

Yeah, sure- here goes, hope it helps others. I'll explain why we are doing this as well in case anyone has come in here late..

A new passenger asset <kuid:-3:11061> has been downloaded by some users. Although we are not quite sure where this originated from, the problem it creates is that it obsoletes the standard TS12 built in passenger asset <kuid:-3:11060>. This new asset is not available on the DLS, so if you upload a route and session with passenger interactive stations, these will be disabled for everyone else without that asset and there will be no passengers on their downloaded routes, possible broken sessions and script errors appearing. Downloaders will see an unknown asset and have no way of obtaining it.

Therefore, please note the following process if you are thinking of creating a route to upload and share with others on the DLS and you have passenger asset <kuid:-3:11061> installed and want to remove it.

If you have not started the route and have <kuid:-3:11061> installed:

Locate that asset in CMP, open it for edit and remove the reference to <kuid:-3:11060> in the obsolete-table. Then save the config and commit the asset.

If you have started a new route and have <kuid:-3:11061> installed the process is more complex as the route and session will be using that asset as the default.

Firstly, locate asset <kuid:-3:11061> in CMP. Open it for edit and remove the reference to <kuid:-3:11060> in the obsolete-table.

Then copy the contents of the asset out to a new folder somewhere else on your pc for later reinstatement.

Commit or revert the asset.

Only then delete <kuid:-3:11061> in CMP.

Start Trainz, open the route in surveyor you are thinking of uploading to the DLS, you will note all the passengers will have disappeared on the stations.

Delete missing assets.

You then need to select every station one by one- open options by clicking ?

- if it is an AJS station click the Platform 1 tab, change the Initial count from 10 to 5. Close the window and you will see the passengers will immediately re-appear. What this does is reset the station to look for the passenger asset listed in it's config. You can then repeat the process and change your initial passengers back to 10 or whatever you had them set at.

- if it is a simpler scripted station click ? and a box will appear allowing you to reset the Initial number of passengers as above.

As stated you must repeat this process with every station on the route until all the passengers re-appear.

If you have used the instant load command with any rolling stock then you need to delete that rolling stock in surveyor and replace it, making sure that any associated couple to commands that are affected are changed to suit the new vehicle number.

Then save your route and session as- which is a safety measure in case anything goes wrong, you still have the original. This allows you to compare if this process has been successful for you, as you will see one route with and one without the passengers.

At this point, if you like you can reinstate the passenger asset <kuid:-3:11061> which you have saved somewhere else on your pc. Double check to make sure the obsolete-table is blank in the config first though. You may want to do this otherwise other routes you have been using may be looking for that missing asset. In CMP Import content, point to that folder and it's done.

Important note: This is only relevant while passenger asset <kuid:-3:11061> is not freely available. If N3V upload this passenger asset to the DLS or build it into a future version of Trainz that will hopefully sort the problem.

As a footnote, I think this situation has happened before as our TS12 built in passenger asset <kuid:-3:11060> obsoletes a presumably earlier version <kuid:-3:10060>!!!

Hope that helps.

Hi TMZ, I've just uploaded the Porthmadog - Blaenau FFestiniog route for TS12 - it looks great. However with the 24in narrow gauge track, I was wondering what locos and rolling stock would be suitable. I've searched the DLS without finding any passenger coaches. Cheers from Australia. Roy

Need to get them from Trainzone, they are not allowed on the DLS, I believe as kevmt the creator had an agreement with the FR when he made them originally. I'm actually in the process of updating them to TS12 standards for him, all done with permission, in between trying to finish my own Welsh Highland Ffestiniog project.

There's a note in the config file of the session about where to get the locos, which appears on the black pages of the DLS also.

Thanks for your time spent sorting the assets Malc.

CMP will not let me delete the asset as it is built it, the option is greyed out. How else do I go about deleting it?

I thought it was odd as I've never been able to delete built-in assets before. Do I have to disable it then if it can't be deleted?

The asset cannot be deleted - not sure why tmz06003 included that instruction.

With respect, many people inherited <kuid:-3:11061> when they purchased payware asset from N3V. I did. It wasn't built in for me. So if you are in that case, you can delete it.

In Tony's case <kuid:-3:11061> wasn't on his computer and when I sent him a route to beta test that had <kuid:-3:11061>, he couldn't, because passengers would not show. Hence the tutorial.

I didn't delete it because I have a bunch of my own routes that uses <kuid:-3:11061>. So now I can use other routes that don't require that version because the obsolete tag is empty.

I'd say that if you have <kuid:-3:11061> built in, then this tutorial doesn't apply to you.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

This makes sense, Chris.

It looks like I'm stuck with mid-century British passengers because I have payware items installed from N3V.

@Tony - thank you for the tutorial. Hopefully this is helpful for others that don't have this item built-in.

When you delete the -3:11060 asset from the obsolete table, are you meant to get a load of errors like this:
Code:
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '01.texture'.Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '01b.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '01head.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '02.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '04.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '04b.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource '1984.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'ate_us.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'beiderbecke.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'case.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'case2.texture'.

Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'f_dress_7.texture'.
Error: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource 'f_dress_8.texture'.
...and so on

If you open any built in and change it you will get errors as they use combined .TEXTURE files instead of separate .texture.txt and graphics files. Running the .TEXTURE files through PEVs TGA tool2 separates them, then delete the .TEXTURE files (not .texture files!!! be careful here).

Or if you revert that asset to original the errors will go away but you are left with the obsolete problem.

Seems like we have another problem here though.

We all have TS12 looking at our banners, in my version build 49922 kuid:-3:11060 is built in, -3:11061 is not there at all.

Chris has the same original set up, which is why he can alter 11061 without errors but downloaded that asset afterwards with an add-on, it is not built in I gather so can be edited.

I have no add-ons, no TC3, and a clean install which is why my setup should represent a typical set up of most other users.

Why is yours then different as you are not showing any add on packs? Are you editing 11060 by mistake? I'm only thinking of all the possibilities to see if we can get this sorted for you as well.

Check if you have both 11060 and 11061 installed as built in.

I have four add-on packs:
  • S&C
  • Murchison 2
  • Duchess
  • Coronation Scot
-3:11061 is shown as built in
-3:11060 was showing as updates available (I can't access CMP at the moment so I'm not sure)

...as I said to you on the UK Trainz forum, Good luck, you're going to need it!!

Well for you and any others that have -3:11061 as a built in it's even more difficult but it can be done, you'll need to change the obsolete table then run every .TEXTURE through PEV's program to split them up before committing the asset, that will solve the errors. remember to delete the .TEXTURES before committing or the error will remain. It will only become error free once you get this bit right and don't miss any files.

Or you could just ignore it and leave most of the downloaders without passengers on your route and a missing asset and possibly invisible stations generating errors for them.

As I've said may times this is proving to be a huge problem for route builders, all because of an entry in the obsolete-table of -3:11061, just to add to the confusion.

Or N3V could upload -3:11061 to the DLS and save everyone this massive hassle.

This unexpected development seems to indicate that some add-on packs install -3:11061 as built in, yet others install it to the local folders.
