How to place 'products' in surveyor?

I downloaded an asset called 'Snowplough' (https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=116119 / KUID:316142:4634 ) which appeared to be a smaller snowplough- the kind that just comes up to the engine's bufferbeam rather than the large ones that are pushed by a locomotive. However, it's listed as a 'product'- I assume that means a product of an industry, like wood from a logging plant or coal from a mine. How do I apply this to a locomotive to use it?

You will need to find an industry that produces said product (or use Multiple Industry New) and a wagon that can transport said product.

If I remember correctly prowler901 had some locos where the cowcatcher could be swapped for a plough. These were changed by clicking the ? and selecting the plough. I think they were implemented as products but could not be loaded on rolling stock.

Is it possible to alter what products an existing industry produces?

Yes, if you update it's config.txt file to add the product's KUID, or use Multiple Industry New.

Ace, thanks. I've managed to place some snowploughs on a flat wagon. Is it actually possible to persuade them to attach to the front of a locomotive?

Depends on if the locomotive is prepared for that. Check out loco's produced by the same person that made the product.
