How to navigate the maps?

Hi!

I have a question, how do you guys navigate the maps? Sometimes I can´t finish a session objective because I simply don´t know how to get to certain places, because the map is just to elaborate.

Do I really have to painfully trace down every route to every place so just that I can finish some objectives???

Why isn´t there an option in Trainz, to set a destination and the game marks the route for you, so that you can find stuff easily and then get there?

Is it just me, who has these problems??

A: cheat, use the navigate to option if possible, let it go and mark down which way. Then do it yourself.
B: Use the map view and scroll around noting which way to go.
Those are my solutions.

Not quite sure what you mean, what exactly are your objectives and what are you trying to do?
If you want to find something on a map/route then use the "Find Object" option that is built in to all Trainz, or if you want to go somewhere instantly on a route then just right click the position on the mini map and you will go straight to it. Also, in surveyor mode, there are little round "Go To" buttons on the top menu bar that you set up as an instant teleport from A to B.
In driver mode you can also just click on a driver from the list or a consist in the map to be taken straight there. :)

I mean when there are objectives like collect the coal waggons from Ind 23 a and deliver them to xyz, then depending on the compexity of the map it is almost impossible to find out how to drive there with the train. Always switching between map view and normal view just to find out if you are on the right track is very tedious.

They should have implemented a map view that is viewable whilst driving without having to switch to it and an option to mark a destination and the program showing you, which way to drive, so that you know where to go without having to painfully click all the track along just to find out where you need to go.

Can you use the map view?

I'm assuming that you have worked out how to use the Map View - zoom in and out; pan left, right, up, down; and rotate?

You can set switches in the Map View by clicking on them. If you know your location and your destination you can set your entire route before jumping back to the driver's view.

Or in surveyor you can set all the points to the route you need so when in driver you know you never have to leave the cab.

Yeah I can navigate the map, I just found it to be very tedious and unecessarily complicated.

There should be an option to just set a destination and the program then showing you how to get there, so that one can completely concentrate on driving, without having to scroll the map for minutes just to find out how to get to places.
