How to import content in 2010 from 2006

If I am correct all the built-in items from TRS2006 is also built-in in TS2010.
If you want to "move" your downloaded content from 2006 to 2010 you could use "import content". Find the folder named "local" in your 2006 folder and import that folder into 2010 using that option in the content manager.

Hi,
I have tried doing this. I right-clicked on the files and selected convert to cdp. A window appears saying that the files are being packed, but when it is finished it disappears and nothing else happens. When i do a computer search for .cdp files nothing happens. Has it converted the files? Where have they gone?

After the files being packed Window closes you should get an explorer window where you select a folder to store to and where you enter a filename for the .cdp file. If you can find where it went you could start another save to cdp and see where the window explorer defaults to, then quit that one and look in the default location for any files with .cdp extersion.

Sorry for being slightly unclear, I have TC 1&2 and not 2010. But the problem lies in 2006. After the window closes that says the files are being packed, a window comes up saying that some items cannot be added as they are built-in. When I search my computer, the only files with a .cdp extension that I can find are the ones I downloaded onto TC from the DLS.

I transfer assets from 2006 to 2009 almost daily. To facilitate this I created a NEW FOLDER named it CDP transfers, (you can use any name) and once you make a transfer to it, Trainz remembers and all future transfers will be there. It has to be cleaned out periodically because those CDP's really add up. A single asset may have 10 dependencies that also need to be moved. You cannot move built in assets. They need to be cloned first, which can introduce many errors when opened and committed in 2009.

The only problem is that it doesn't give me the option of where to put it. It simply packs the files and goes away.

The best way i have found ( sometime's can be a long way of doing thing's )
is to open CM 2010 then open your Auran/TRS2006/Local folder and drop an drag a few folders at a time , OK so its not the fastest way but it works for me.

It depends on how much content you have
, I did mine at 50 folder's at a time so it would not bog down CM, to me that was best.At 100 folder's i found that CM would stop responding for some time and even crash back to the desktop.
In my sig is my comp spec's they are Not realy Good but are not bad for a 2 year old machine.

What C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2010 folder do you drop them into, please?
I plan to do this via a portable memory stick to my friend's TS2010.

You DONT add your 06 local folder to any TS2010 folder.
You Open TS2010 Content Manger and Drop and Drag your 06 local folder in to Content Manger which is refered to as CM.

Hi i just got 2010 EE and done a patch build from 42203 to 44088 and it worked fine.
So then i followed what was here about opening CM 3.3 and dragged 2006 locol folder into it took a long time to get over but all the files came over and so far every thing has worked fine.
Will find out later as i left it to do final commit as they were open for edit before i had to leave to come and play real train the ones that help pay my bills.
So i will check how it went when i get home later tonight fingers crossed.
