How to Filter out OLD CONTENT

Hey guys, enjoying 2010 but I'm having a very frustrating problem with the quality of some of the content. I've been playing various versions of trainz since it first came out, and now in 2010 I'm seeing trainz comes with all the same outdated content as it did years ago.

I'm spending almost all my time going through outdated and incompatible content when I only want to see content that is up to current standards.

Is there any way to filter or just outright delete all rolling stock that isn't industry compatible? I only want the latest high detail engines with moving wheels and such. I only want to see trackside buildings with industry scripting, I only want to see speedtrees. Basically I want to only see the latest greatest content and not the 5+ year old garbage.

Also is there a better way to find rolling stock and buildings and such than typing in names and hoping you find something compatible? For example, the only "warehouse" I found that had a built-in industry prodused "palletized goods" yet I can't find any boxcars or flat cars that HOLD palletized goods, it almost seems like every content creator uses their own totally incompatible list of goods.

Surveyor is very frustrating now! Years ago we had less to choose from but it seemed easier to find what I was looking for.

In cm3 or whatever it is for TS2009 you can omit faulty items, ones with faulty dependencies, obsolete items. You can also look for rated items but a word of warning items that have a cleaned up version sometimes lose their star ratings in the none obsolete version so don't tick obsolete with star.

You can also search for minimum build number, worth considering though that a lot of creators made stuff 2009 upwards compatible upwards but uploaded under an old version number.

Auran are implementing a fix faulty assets policy at the moment so hopefully the problem with faulty stuff will get resolved given time.

My issue isn't so much with faulty stuff, but just garbage. There seems to be so much JUNK that comes with trainz now, and it's all so unorganized and in many different languages.

Also years ago I found a huge pack of eastern/central european urban buildings, I think they were Polish or Czech or something, but I can't find them on the download station using any of the keywords I remember. Anyone know who makes such things?

Also on the download station is there any way to see if items are industry compatible? I just downloaded a bunch of nice looking passenger carriages but upon loading trainz I see only about half of them can load passengers. Why is all this outdated junk even on the DL station anymore???

You can edit the config.txt file to add a product queue to carriages that don't carry passengers to let them carry passengers.

Content creators don't necessarily have the same priorities as you do. Sometimes its a relief to get the thing out of the door after many months of working in GMAX or Blender and taking even more time to add functionality might not be their highest priority.

Thanks so much for the list of names, a couple seem familiar.. but only KilanZiom comes up with any items. Did you spell the names right or am I searching wrong some how?

Simple way to get all the old stuff out of surveyor's list (this is 2010 but I'm guessing 2009 is similar);

Set the view filter to include build number, then;

Click the build number tab to organize according to build number. Scroll down and select all the 1.3 and 1.5 stuff, right click and select enable/disable to disable it.
Obviously there's some older content that's actually pretty good and some newer stuff that's not, so the best way is to make a note of what has sliding disks instead of rolling wheels and disable those individually, but that takes time.

Yes but some of that older content is fine. Most buildings and scenery objects for example don't need anything other than a low level version number so why set it to 2.9 rather than anything higher.

kuid:86627:1146 works fine is error free in TS2010 but build 1.3.

How to filter out OLD CONTENT

I don't know of a way to do what you want,other then writting them down while in surveyor then go to CM3.2 and disabling them. That what i had to do in 06/09/now in 10. Don't know why we have to have the same stuff game after game. At least let us be able to delete them to free up space on our PCs HARD DRIVE. I've been doing this in 2010 but they still show up in surveyor????.
