My only experience with Trainz is 2 months old when I got my first version -- TS2009.
Since then, I setup my trains in Surveyor to carry out the commands to run my industries. Nothing new, nothing out of the basic functionality. However, after running a session for quite a time I started noticing that my logs train going back to the forestry still loaded with logs. Of course, that means that the pulp mill is not consuming logs at a faster rate.
I want to prevent this for my lumber and all other industries. I could put down another Hyde industry to consume more woodchips or run more trains from a portal, install an Ikea factory, etc etc.
My solution is as follows (I haven't finished yet the implementation):
(1) When the session starts my log train will execute the normal commands -got to forestry - load logs - go back to the pulp mill - unload logs - goto to trackmark 'logs depot'
where the trackmark could be located somewhere adjacent to the mill or wherever other place such as a side track.
(2) On the way to the 'logs depot' trackmark the train will hit a trigger to spawn an event handled by the 'Resource Check' rule. This rule is easy to configure - just select the pulp mill, monitor the logs queue and when the minimum of, say, 7 logs is reached then execute the same commands as above on the train sitting on the 'logs depot' track mark. Pretty easy setup.
(3) How to setup and start up the train to execute the commands specified above I would be addng a child rule to the 'Resource Check' rule called 'ScheduleOnTrack' rule (don't remember the exact name) which is easy to setup as well -just specify a trackmark and the commands to execute.
(4) I expect the train to rush to the forestry to pick up more logs and come back to the pulp mill, including firing the Resource Check event again for next time.
Sounds like a plan? do you have something similar? or another way to do it?
I need still to learn Auran's scripting language but that's another task for the coming weeks.
I would love to see your comments or other proposals.
Happy New Year to all!
