How to dig a tunnel

I am messing around with a DEM that I downloaded and am laying some track. Got that part figured out pretty well. My question is how does one put a tunnel through an existing mountainside? Which asset is the EASIEST to work with? I am working in TS12. I am using JR Dk Grey (Terrain) track.
Hope it is not TOO complicated !

I found a tutorial about digging tunnels and have got that part figured out. Now I cannot get the track and the tunnel track to join. I am using JR track and tunnel/track, but they will not join/connect when everything else is completed. What am I doing wrong?

A tunnel is a separate asset and is defined in Surveyor as that.......in other words you need a 'tunnel' asset to dig through the mountain.......not just the track.

I used a tunnel: JR MS Lt Grey Tunnel. I am also using JR MS Lt Gray (Terrain) track. Why won't the join?
