How to design your own, houses, engines etc.

Could someone tell me how to design your own buildings, engines, rolling stock etc.? Do you need a special program? I have trainz 2009.

Try Blender, I think most are now using that for 2009.
But I'm afraid it's a steep learning curve, especially for someone like you who has a bad case of "short term memory loss". :hehe:

LOL...Others use Gmax, and there are tutorials available for both programs if you want to see what you are in for....Google each and take a look, or plug "Tutorials" into the forum search function, you should get enough information pretty quickly! Now, if you decide you just want to reskin OPC (other people's content), you only really need a graphics prog such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Paint.net, or Gimp. If you decide to use Gmax and /or Blender, you'll want a graphics program anyway.

World of Trainz site, PhilC who makes payware locos runs the site. It has step by step guides on how to use gmax and 3dsmax, everthing from making simple handrails right up to a whole loco.

Have Gmax and the site open, keep referring back to the site as you create something in Gmax.
