How to commit an object?

I found a thread on commiting an object, right click object in CM, select Edit, select Commit.....
but when I select Edit, all the choices are faded out, I can't select commit.
I'm trying to use the NS Fred, kuid2:39134:101733:2. Any suggestions on why it isn't being able to Commit?
Thanks for any and all of the help!

Right mouse click on content in CM, choose either "Edit in Explorer" (old school), or "Edit in Content Creator Plus". Don't do either one if you are unsure of what you are doing.
What's the problem with the content? Is it showing errors?

Never did either types of edit.
Not showing any errors, it won't list in surveyor menu list so I can add it to a car.
Was informed that I needed to commit the item. I feel like I need to be committed!
Thanks!

In content manager click on open for edit if it in there then right click on the frist one go down to select all then hit CTRL & M.
If it's not there delete it and re-down load it.

Thanks so much for the info, but nothing worked:'(!!!!!!!!!
Then I noticed in CM that two of the three Freds had an arrow down by the DLS icon. It said that a download was available. So I downloaded, and low and behold the two updated, and the third asset disappeared! Go figure! So, at that point I went to surveyor, and there was the Fred NC listed in the train menu. And, it worked!!!:D Oh Happy DaY!!!
I also noticed that in CM, this asset is shown as being obsolete!!!
Oh well, it worked, not the way I thought, but I got it done. Now if I can only remember how I did it in the future.....this CRS I have is just getting worse!!!LOL
I guess that sometimes things are not always as they appear!!!
And the little accomplishments are so rewarding!!!!!

G'day jlp1551,

Next time you look at the asset in CMP, Jeff, look carefully at EXACTLY what is 'written'. I'm willing to bet that the word you will see is "obsoleted" and NOT "obsolete". If an asset is shown in CMP as being obsoleted, this means that an update has been released for this asset and that the version marked as obsoleted is precisely that, This is further confirmed if you examine the KUID number of the asset. The KUID of the recent update will have a 'version value' greater than that of the 'older' version. That is to say that the respective KUID numbers will look like this; KUID:xxxxxx:xxxx:1, for the older version and KUID:xxxxxx:xxxx:2 for the newer one (or some variation of this). Once I get an update for an asset under these circumstances, I usually delete or 'archive' the old version (if for no other reason than to save space and confusion when reading the lists in CMP - although 'archiving' an asset doesn't remove it from your HDD)...

Jerker {:(}

It is obsolete, not obsoleted. But thanks anyway. I knew about the kuid numbering. When I updated the asset, the original kuid and the :1 kuid remained, but the :2 kuid left CM. Still learning everything and having fun.
