How dumb is this

G'day All, I have been creating a AI session and thought I would setup the "all aboard" and "guards whistle" sounds for the trains at station stops. All went well when I set up the first train, I then set up a second train and went for a ride in it and from around 30 miles away I could clearly hear the "all aboard" and "guards whistle" from the other train boy oh boy has that guard got great lung power to do that.
Now why is trainz sound setup to allow this to happen, a basic thing as the operation of sound and it don't work right....oh that’s right we got speed trees and multiplayer what more do we want. We want a simulator that has all of the basic things working properly before worrying about the bells and whistles fancy stuff.
This is not in UTC or TRS04 or 06, it is in TS10 with the latest patch build 49933 come on N3V get the act together even the doppler sound in TS12 is rubbish, MSTS leaves trainz for dead in the sounds department and just look how old it is and yes I do still play it.
So it seems I cannot have typical sound effects unless I want to hear them all over the route, boy is that dumb.:(

Though this provides no consolation I remember the same sound issues in 2006. It's curious that not all sounds do this, could it be a radius issue with certain sound effects? Have you investigated, are are you just crossing your arms and pouting?:p

I'm having problems with a electric sounds mixed in with the train sounds avery time i drive a train doesn't matter, very annoying. and the speed trees make matters worse I had to delete them form avery route. Products wont show up wend trying to add a new Product to eater a rail car or int. don't matter what car or route throw out TRS12. I tryed a data base repair and nothing works.

G'day All, The sounds are entered in the drivers commands list (Guards whistle <kuid:165221:1092>) and (Play a Sound File <kuid:121843:900031>) the latter has two sounds to use 2toot and all aboard. I am going to try some method of playing these sounds at stations (maybe a trigger) but still seems daft that the sounds are meant for an individual train but are plainly heard all over the route.
I thought this method of setting the sounds up for each loco was a good idea and easy, in hind sight i'm thinking these were made for sessions with a player train the sounds being assigned to it and therefore this issue would not be noticed unless you jumped on one of the other trains (AI).
Will muck around some more to see what can be done, any constructive sugestions welcome.
Regards
Barrie

I had a similar issue with TS12 and sorted it out by launching the sim then on the top left click main menue, select sound settings then untick "enable 3D sound effects" and reduce sound volume to around 50 to 70% (defaults to 100%).
I have a very good 5.1 sound card and speaker system which give great 3D sounds with other sims/games but TS12 fails (sounds distorted and all mixed together).
At least with the above settings it is usable.

I have found that the sounds that travel across the entire map are the horns and whistles within the game, I have taken away all the sound horn or whistle triggers, so I don't hear multipul horns throughout an entire route.

I must admit this does need to be resolved, I brought this up back in the days of Trainz 2006 when it was first released, but it seemed that the task may have been too much for Auran to take on, now it seems that more people are having a problem with the sound so hopefully N3V will take note and work their magic.
