How does one get the greyed-out grid lines in wireframe view to turn all white?

Where the gray lines intersect on the map, these points can't be edited, raised or lowered, with Topology tools, of course.

When a brand-new route is created, the default texture is gray with crisscrossing yellow and black grid lines.

I think my question should be how does one change resolution from 10 x 10 to 5 x 5 AFTER a route has already been started to be worked on?

It is difficult to smooth terrain nicely with 10 x 10 and make more precise dig holes in tunnel openings.

Goto to this link, and 1/3 of the way down, it talks about how to change your Grid Size, also note, when you decrease size if I understood it correctly, your texture in some areas may need to be redone?

Hope this helps you out.

I myself would never even use 5m grid cutting ... I have absolutely no problem with 10m grid cuttings at tunnel portals

I found out how to get 5 resolution. Right mouse click on "Add Ground" tool. The Ground Options dialog box will allow you to select 5 or 10 grid squares.

The five resolution allows me to grade or shape the ground more precisely. I am stickler for neat-looking land and will devote countless hours shaping the terrain. Five grids allow for smoother and more rounded hills and mountains. It's purpose is strictly for the appearance of Topology.

No I have not been able to find small dig holes that only punch out 5 x 5 squares.
