How do you re-skin?

I am wanting to start re-skinning on trainz 2006, but how do I do it?
I am not planning on going on buying a download to do it, can I do it for free?

First thing you have to do is click the

link at the top of the page and register your copy of Trainz, reskinning won't work without having a legal registered copy.

Hi Sniper. I'm not sure if this is what the poster is asking, but I've been curious for a while how one would go about "repainting" locomotives in Trainz 2009. I've been working, albeit slowly, on a fictional route and had thought it might also be fun to create my own railroads by throwing a custom paint scheme onto existing engines that I know work well. (And my copy of 2009 is registered.) Thanks!
