... that has been used in a downloaded route?

I can bring it up in the texture selection box in surveyor but I can't for the life of me find out how to get surveyor to tell me the name and/or the kuid of the selected texture.

Add '-showkuids' in Trainzoptions. After this clicking on anything on a map including a texture will show the KUID.

If you are using 2009, drag the texture name into the Pick List in the Search Dropdown and you will see the file in CM2 Picklist. CM2 and Surveyor work together now.

Very useful.

Also, as well as narrowguage's excellent suggestion, if you have a favourite texture that you use on your layouts, you can also amend the config.txt accordingly, so that particular texture is one of the first to show up in the box in surveyor when you press your paintbrush tab. I altered a snow texture to aSnow in the username, and it is the first in the bunch when I go into surveyor now, without having to scroll all the way thru everything to find it.

I believe that you don't even have to go into the config file to do that - you can change the username in the asset details window in CMP. And don't forget the "Favourites" dropdown in the Textures rollout in Surveyor.
