how do i sort the fields in cm

thought i knew how, however no option is showing up to allow me to sort the fields in the cm, thanks

Click the title of the column you want to sort by, whether Name, Status, Asset ID, Author Username or whatever. As far as I know there is no way to do a nested sort, like Author then Type or anything like that. When you click the title of the field, it will sort to the smallest value first, so if you are looking for Build Version or Upload Date, you will want to click twice, to get the highest build or most recent uploads at the top. Status works great for getting unknown dependencies to the top for routes and assets.

Ah. I don't use thumbnails, so I don't know how that affects CM.

Thumbnails are intended to show you the asset thumbnails after you have already sorted and filtered the assets. The thumbnails shown are made from the actual meshes and texture files built into the assets, not the frequently useless ones added by the asset creator. They take up all the available space in the asset palette so there is no room left for text/data columns to be added.
