How do I do this the "right" way??

I have discovered that the "1950s-Era USA Region" does NOT work. Or rather the cars don't work.

I have further uncovered that it seems to be in the "config.txt" of the cars themselves. Not having a trackside tag and so forth (IE they are NOT up to date with TS10/12)

I want to use them in my layout, which begs the question, how?

Do I clone them and fix the clones? If I do I can't release them right?

Do I "fix" them and then upload them with the old KUID to the DLS?

What's the protocol here?

(And lastly WHY THE #*(@! Were they SHIPPED with TS12 if they don't work) <- rhetorical, just venting the frustration of having spent the past few hours trying to hunting this down...

Regarding fixing and uploading... in your Planet Auran account, under the Trainz heading there's a DLS Cleanup. It's my understanding you can claim that asset for repair. I'm further guessing after you make the repairs you can upload and I'm assuming with a new VERSION kuid.

I haven't done it, so I'm not positive.

That is the only way to repair and replace them. If they aren't on the DLS cleanup list, then the original author would have to be asked for permission, and if granted, then you could upload the asset with your own kuid number.

Oh my.... well I checked one and it's not on "the list" - I have the feeling this is going to be a pain....

Sadly there is quite a lot that is not on "the list". If I was the betting sort, there are a lot of people who went through and claimed stuff to be repaired, never to repair it, and since it is "claimed for repair", nobody else can either.

Emphasis added----I don't even bother checking the cleanup list anymore. I've never found any faulty assets that I've had to repair on the list, and I've had to repair quite a few .

It sounds to me like N3V/Auran started another useless or pointless procedure? I won't bother looking into it any further then.

I could of course easily (now that I doped it all out) fix these cars and get them working for *me* but I'm looking with an eye toward releasing my route one day, and on that day I'll want others to be able to run it correctly. I thought it was the region file, and spent a few hours mucking about with it before I decided to clone and "fix" a car. Once I did that Voila I had a 1959 Impala running around on my roads...

Guess I'll back burner this for now, go back to laying track and planting trees. :D

You'll have to find cars that do work and use Euphod's tutorial link to create a custom region full of working cars. Then you can upload the region. The cars are already on the DLS. Your region just says "Use Joe's cars and put 'em on the roads." They still have to be downloaded on the other end through the DLS. To cover your bases, I'd include in the description "Custom region uses blah car by Joe, blah truck by Bob.... available on the DLS" just to give credit where credit is due. Then you can reference your region in the route.

Are their any working mid century cars? 50's and 40's? All the ones I've seen place fine as static objects, but won't work as driving carz.
