How can I find a "hidden layer" ?

I am working on the Reading & Northern and placed the Camelback 0-6-0 on a track at Jim Thorpe passenger station. Somehow it is in a "hidden layer" and now is NOT visible in Surveyor or Driver. What the hell? How do I find this "hidden layer" ?

Thanks.

All layers, both hidden or not, have a visible icon and label in the Layers tool in Surveyor. Hidden layers are indicated by a "closed eye" icon next to their name. Click the eye to switch between hidden and visible (open eye).

Be aware that any asset placed in the layout can belong to more than one layer. So it may belong to a layer that is visible but bound to another layer that is hidden - a strange arrangement. If you select a placed asset and display its properties (? icon) it will display both a layer name and a bound layer name. To avoid confusion (and trying to explain this is confusing) make both layers visible in the Layer tool.

If this does not solve the problem then some other issue is at fault (e.g. a faulty asset).

I have the same trouble as Connel, my hidden layer was flagged in a session that I had previously created and was trying to edit. But where is the "Layers" tool in Surveyor? I don't see one in any of the tabs or buttons, and "hel" didn't. And how did a hidden layer get created (it would be handy to know so I don't do it again)?

Many thanks,

It has been a long time since I used TS2010 (TS10) and I don't have an Android device so I don't know if it has/had layers. I currently use TS12 (Windows) and the Layers tool is the second bottom tab on the right side in Surveyor.

Welcome Tom!

The layers are in the tab on the right that looks like a stack of papers. I hope that's a good description for it.

When I click the EYE in the Layers tab, EVERYTHING disappears. When I click it again, everything comes back. Oh well.

To me that indicates that you have placed everything in the one layer - this is not a problem and many creators prefer to work this way. Is there also a layer in the second (bottom) half of the layers window as shown in the more complicated screenshot below? This second group is for session layers with the highlighted layer the currently active layer, your "invisible" consist may be in there.

I have NEVER worked with multiple layers. When I open the Layers tab, only ONE Route layer and ONE Session layer show. That is why I don't understand where the "invisible" layer came from.

Whenever I so a "save as" when working on a route, I save the Route and Session together. Should I be doing something different? Not sure how to merge a session into the route layer.

One potential hazard of using the "Save As .." option, even when using the same names for the route and the session, is that a new duplicated session can be created. For the few times it has happened for me the duplicated session (or the original - I'm not sure which) does not appear in the Sessions list. However, if you open CM and look at your content you may see more than one session with the same name but with different KUIDs. This may (or may not) be the cause of your problem.

This has happened to me, what I did was create a new route layer, name it whatever and then merge the new layer into the existing route layer, the asset (rolling stock in my case) then appeared.

I have Trainz 2009 and I don't see this layer tab to find the hidden train. Here is the error message I get;
Error: Cannot add train as there is already a train at this location on a hidden layer
