Host then Post Q

Recently I noticed that 'host then post' is no longer available. At least that's how it appears to me. Is there an alternative which gives the same service for unpoading images to the forum? Or is there another way of getting screenshots posted?

Cheers,
Val.

There are plenty of options available for image hosting indeed. Some recommend the official Trainz Gallery - and someone who uses it could give you better directions on that - but Imgur.com seems to be one of the best external image hosters out there at the moment. It is free, easy to use, and has no risk of suddenly disappearing and dying like Hostthenpost thanks to its highly active community (in which participating is purely optional). Flickr is also another good option but it's more of a real gallery site than an image hoster.

Cheers,
SM

Cheers SM,
Giving Imgur a go. Seems Host then Post was inundated with porn images from what I can gather...so closed down.

Sorry to say but no-one could ever give such a guarantee about any hosting service. It is not just the risk of closing down, which could happen for a variety of reasons to any site. But there is also the risk of the site switching to a pay-as-you-post service which happened last year to a popular hosting service that was used by many posters here - Photobucket.

+1 for Imgur - they're now my go-to site for image hosting. I wouldn't put anything up there that I didn't want to be public though, obviously. Same applies to all image hosting sites though.

Simply sign up (free), drag an image to it, then from the various options choose 'BBCode' for the link you want, and voila!

For posting images to the Forum N3V Trainz Gallery must be the best option.

Imageshack went to subscription then Host then Post went down it is such a shame that most of the screenshots in the Screenshot section are missing.

And if that was not bad enough, I was using Photobucket for all my forum images when I was struck by a random "glitch" on their site that meant all my images were lost - they were very apologetic but could not restore them. Then they went subscription.

Naturally, I did not have any backups of the images. A lesson learnt the hard way.
