Hopping from seat to seat

Running the Tehachapi scenario where you are the helper. Was content to just be on the back, watching the gauges and distances. Pretty cool effect.

Then I was told I had to drop off three cars, and maybe I aught to switch crews. Hmmmm. Used CTRL 1 to move up to the front seat - that worked. But then I realized that I only saw a smaller version of the hud panel, without any control information. When I switched back (CNTL 2) I still couldn't see it.

So, how do I swap positions on a train to get work done? How to I get the full hud?

Sorry for such basic quesitons - the printed rules down mention it, the online rules are offline, and the forums give all sorts of threads but this one.

Select 4 (Roaming View) to see your whole consist. Select Enable Decouple Mode from the Tools menu. Click the uncouple point where you want to disconnect. Drive the engine away to seperate the consist at that point.

Well, that was pretty dumb. I thought there was something special I had to do. They said "switch" with Alan so I was trying every trick I knew to move to the forward cab. Eventually I got the HUD screwed up.

So now I went through the trick of keeping the cars from rolling away on the slope. Looks like I need to set the air brakes, pump them up, then break the train. At least, that's what it looks like.
