Historical Topo Maps?

I have exhausted the resource of NSGS for topo maps for the line I'm modeling. Does anyone know of a good source other than USGS for the Historical Topo maps in the state of California?

Thanks

Try the California State Geological Survey <http://www.conservation.ca.gov/CGS/Pages/Index.aspx>.

Also try college libraries, especially at institutions with an active geology department, to see what they might have in their map collecxtions.

Sorry John. Typo on the Topo!! USGS is the site I have been accessing. Good stuff. I was just looking for another resource.

Thanks

No problems. Typos are my friend. :)

The NSGS site was down for a bit a few days ago. I tried to download some historic DEMs of my region and they weren't available. So, your post wasn't too off.

Map sites are so cool and it's really amazing what we have available to us today.

I recal at one time seeing a tut on using the TransDem program. Would you happen to know or have a link to that?

The program owner of TransDEM needs to seriously consider a more automated way in which to make his program available. I would also think it would be of a genuine interest of those developing the Trainz platform to look into incorporating the mapping program into the next release.

I've gathered all the information I need to start laying out my project, but I'm dead in the water without the TransDEM program.

Anyone out there that can pull some strings? Certainly don't want to belittle Roland for enjoying his holiday, but I am a bit itchy to get to work.......can you tell?;)

Thanks

I too am needing an upgrade, but let him enjoy his holiday. At least in Europe they get more than 2 weeks a year. We're lucky if we get 2 weeks paid at a lot of workplaces today. As this is a sideline to his main occupation, I think he handles this very nicely and safely as he oversees the handling of the licensing and the files. This is more than what a lot of places do today where you don't even have contact with the developer because they hide behind a website with pretty pictures. He'll be back to work soon enough.
