I recently purchased Trainz 2009 World builder from steam, I noticed when I loaded the game up the front page mention high ress textures pack but when I search for them in the content manager I cannot find them, is my game already installed with them or can someone aid me in where to find them to install and can I download the entire pack , I ask as my train models look really low ress textures even with 1650x1050 reso and all settings maxed, thanks :)

hi locherbread,

Welcome to the forums,

You will need to go to the Download Station (use the link above) and then search for content with the username Rob. You will find the textures (There are 50 of them) and also updates to the built-in sessions that adds the English text.

Thanks for the welcome and especially thanks for the help, my 6 year old son adored Trainz 2006 he loved creating his own tracks and I thought it was about time I treated him to the latest version with more realistic graphics ..

It comes with the game.Go into surveyor,
click on the paint tab,
in the search box type ts09.

Do you mean Surveyor in the options menu? if so I don't see a paints tab as an option.!

Also I upgraded my account to First class as download speeds were horendously slow, but they still are extremely slow?

Hi,

All of the included content is the same as what come with TRS2006/TRS2007 so that is why it looks the same. The game itself is now capable of handling better quality models and graphics but the amount of new content using those features is lagging behind the development of TS2009. The DSL has some new high quality stuff and so does www.trainzproroutes.com.

Have you activated your first class ticket? If not then click on the Profile link in the menu bar at the top of this page. Then click on the Download Tickets link on the left. Then scroll down the page to find your ticket and click the activate link.

Ah thanks on "how to activate my First class Ticket" downloaing is much faster..

So if the game ships with 2006 textures how do you get the high ress textures that are shown in the advertisments "Before and Afters" as my graphics certainly aren't this high?

In content Manager search name TS09_. This will show you the files to down load they are 50 at about 7M each.

I downloaded all the files are these the ones that improve the quality of the outside and inside of the trains, just still looks lowish ress compared to screenshots from official webpage..

Hi locherbread
The texture pack that you downloaded (the new TS2009 ground textures) will not simply update the graphics, and don't replace any existing textures. They are ground textures made to the new 09 methods for people to use on their layouts.

As to the high res content shown in the screenshots on the website. These are included in the program, but are not used on any built-in layouts/sessions. They are as follows (names may not be 100% correct):
Station Wallangarra (scenery)
UP SD40-2 (train)
TS2009 track (track)
Tree (scenery)
Road 2l hwy (spline)
car 51-54 (scenery)
hedge (spline)
stones with puddles (ground texture)

These items are included as examples of the newer methods of content creation. As is on the TS2009 website, TS2009 when first released was mainly intended for creators (either assets or layouts, any other 'creation' that can be used in game), and included only a limited amount of new content in it. However, it introduced a number of new features, that either creators or route builders can make use of, such as the 5m grid. Effectively it still is intended for creators, however the expanding range of assets for it means that the end user also can make use of it even more.

Of course, to use the new 09 assets on the download station, you will need to have TS2009.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Zec clear up all the information I required. I expected the whole game to look like the Screenshots guess I should read the small print more carefully looks like I was rather naive and for the time being should have just stuck with 2006 until 2009 matured with more high ress stuff added..
