ok i am on trainz 2009 in the chat was told if i go on to the buddy list and alt F4 it will take me to that multiplayer session can i play multiplayer on trainz 2009 or no
can i make a multiplayer route in trainz 2009

Welcome to the forums.

If you haven't already, you will need to register your TS2009 serial number - click MyTrainz, then Serial Number, then fill in the form.

In terms of multiplayer itself, this was only added in TS2010 (in a beta form requiring a specific set of patches), TS12, and later versions so no it's not part of TS2009.

To add to that:
The majority of the people talking on chat about multiplayer are people on a mobile device (like an iPad), usually recognizable by the # symbol followed by a number, as multiplayer also works on the (later) mobile versions of the Trainz.
