Help with a faulty asset

What to choose

There's a tutorial by Dave Snow on how to fix this problem. This is a HF4-introduced bug which fixed a sound issue with TS12. His how-to is in the TS12 support forum. You'll need to download a free audio editor called Audacity if you don't have that.

Hello I have a question I don't know what game I should buy? Trainz 12 or Trainz a new era? I am trying to make a logging rr. Can you help?
thank you

This is off topic, and a new thread should be made instead of posting in here, but get TS12 as it is currently out in the full version and Trainz a new era is only in the community edition (Beta, I think), so it still has bugs. TS12 has more content that works. Oh, and welcome to the forums.

OK - first thing you will need to do is to open the affected asset(s) for edit. Once this is done they should appear in the list on the left-hand side of the AssetX window.

Once this is done, click each one at a time, clicking Repair followed by Repair Waves. Once this is done for each asset (if more than one) re-commit the affected asset(s).

I found this thread because I have the same problem with bell.wav in US Level Crossing Tower (kuid2:76096:100199:1) in Maryland route. When I open this asset for edit, I really see "us level crossing tower" in the list in the left upper window. But what I need to check next? "Bells.wav" at the left bottom window too? And then select "Repair / Repair Audio Files" from horizontal menu? Just like this:

But it seems nothing's happened. No message "Repairing was done successfully" or something like this. And I still see the same error in CMP after commiting faulty asset...

I have identified at least one asset that seems to play up like that - an additional check that needs to be made is in the config file. Check that the filename reference does not include any extra spaces.

Everything seems to be OK:

soundscript
{
bell
{
repeat-delay 0
distance 10,70

sound
{
0 "bells.wav"
}
}
}

Even when I click on bells.wav in left bottom window, I heard the sound. Don't understand where is the problem.

I've just had a look at the asset - what I have suggested does work at my end.

It's important to make sure you actually select the asset in Asset-X before using Repair Audio Files, then make sure the sound container is as you posted above.

Shane

EDIT: Just noticed that Asset-X has created a file called bells.$$$ - try renaming this to bells.wav (you may need to rename or remove the original first).

OK, I open faulty asset for edit and first and noticed there is folder "us level crossing tower" which is empty. Instead of this there is also strange named folder "edit oek6k35y6" where is probably content of the former folder. There is no bells.$$$ anymore.

I also check on all about bells, soundscript and all subfolders, but no effect:

If you have this asset, do you think you can send it to me?

I do have the asset, but don't think I will be able to send the whole asset. However I can send the repaired .wav file if needed.
