my kids got me windows 7 ultimate to put onto my new hdd.
but i cannot get it to accept process guard and sygate firewall.

there is no way that i want to use the inbuilt firewall or anything from that for my pc security while i'm on the net.
i use avast antivirus

any ideas as to what is available in the above utilities that will work on windows 7

thanks

The built in Firewall in windows 7 is quite good, I have been using Win7 Ultimate x64 since launch with only the default system firewall and never had a problem.

As far as your Software, Check the sites see if there is an update for windows 7?

I had the same problem with Sygate, been using it scince day one, sadly it's too out of date now for Win7, still using it on my XP boxes though. Anyway, if you want a firewall that is similar to Sygate and works try PC Tools Firewall, it what I use on Win7 and was using on the Win7 Beta test.

Process Guard not used it myself for years as had no need but I understand now that there is nothing free that comes anywhere near the level of security it provided.
I only ever use Win7 or any other Windows PC's for development games and Simulation stuff that won't work in Linux, only thing they connect to the internet for is updates for AV and Windows and the DLS for Trainz via CM, I have used Linux for all other online stuff for years, far less stressful.

Just to add, I use Avast on the Win7 PC as well.
