I had recently downloaded cincysouthern's v&o u25c diesels. I used trainz objects and made sure I had all the dependencies but the engines will not run on trs 2004. Is there anybody who had experienced this or knows how to correct this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!

Check for missing dependencies. About 6 months ago I downloaded the Penn Central version with the same results. Found out I needed dependencies from another source but I don't remember what or where. Works great now in both 06 and 09. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

just checked for missing dependencies and found that I have everything. The config file did state that they were missing alpha-numbers files and digit.textures files. how do you get those?

I remember that issue also. I think the alpha numbers/digit textures errors are related. They may be located in the body folder but not needed. Seems I remember deleting them and any reference to them in the config file. I am just guessing here, so don't delete anything until someone corroborates this in another post. If it will help, I can copy and paste the config file from my working Penn Central unit for comparison purposes.

that would be great! Thanks for the help! If you do happen to post those items, could you please tell me where I can locate or place them. Again thanks!:)

OK, Here it is. Hope it helps. Just noted it is from the esspee (SP) version that I cloned into Penn Central by changing lettering, numbering and nose paint. It was not to difficult. This engine was designed for TRZ2004, but as I noted previously, it works well in 06 and 09. The original creator (Ron Gore) did a superb job.

where do you place this information? I replaced the config. file with this and it didn't work. obviously i replaces the proper kuid #. Anyhow, this is starting to get frustrating. Thanks for your help though!!!!

The above config file is for U25b engines authored by Ron Gore. I posted it for comparison purposes with the config file that you are working with. I will down load the V&O unit and check it for problems. It may be easier that way.

tomurban

The V&O u25c does not work because you are missing 2 dependencies that show up as "unknown". One is the hornsound and the other is the cab interior. There is also a tag error that we can fix. However, first things first and step by step.

Step 1. Find replacements for the missing kuids. Using the DLS search and download kuid:78865:54099 (hornsound) and also kuid:78865:3100 (interior).
Don't forget to commit them. If you already have them in your database you are one step ahead of me.

Step 2. Open the config. file for editing using explorer. Step 2a. Locate hornsound kuid:261222:1053 and replace it with kuid:78865:54099 in two places. Step 2b. Locate cab interior kuid:78865:2598 and replace it with kuid:78865:3100, also in two places

Step 3. Fix Tag error. In the config. file locate the line "origname" and delete the entire line and nothing else.

Step 4. SAVE, CLOSE and COMMIT.

Congratulations, you have just successfully repaired your first locomotive. If you have more than one of these diesels, you will have to fix them one at a time. This one was V&O road #552.

I would post the full corrected config. file for you to copy, but that would be too easy. The best way to learn how to make these assets work is to fix a few by yourself. I am only the coach here. This locomotive was relatively easy to fix. That is not true in many cases and some can only be fixed by the original creator due to mesh errors. Now go for a test run.

Your instructions worked!!!!! Everything came out fine except engine #550's bogeys are a little to high and don't fully come to the ground. Is there any way to change the bogey's height? #552 works perfectly!!! Thanks for all your help!!!:D

I will take a look at #550 at get back to you.

tomurban

Did you say a little too high? The only thing supporting #550 is the fuel tank. However, this gives us a clue regarding where to look for the problem. Using open for edit in explorer check the kuid #'s for the bogeys. They are not the same as #552. What happened here is that someone replaced the bogey kuid with a newer version with out fixing or changing the attachment points. The easiest way to correct this is to replace both the bogey and bogey-1 kuids with kuid 45324:50008.
Then go to the kuid table at the bottom of the config. file and delete lines 7 & 8 which are references to the non-functioning bogeys. You do not have to enter the kuid for the replacement bogey since it is already present at line 0 in the table. Save and commit and you are good to go.

Just one more step. I noted that the bogeys we just replaced are faulty. So unless you know how to fix them (a lesson for another day) I recommend that you either disable them or delete them from the database.

Regards, tomurban
