Help Finding Drawings!!

Klinger

The Chicago CTA guy
I have a real challenge for everyone. For the last 7 months, I have become more and more fascinated about the Krauss Maffei ML 4000 C'C'

For those that don't know the locomotive, its a very, very unique American Diesel Hydraulic locomotive built in Germany and Delivered to the Southern Pacific and Denver and Rio Grande Western as an Experiment. The locomotives were suppose to eliminate wheel slip, and replace up to 4 equivalent GP and F units.

Well, needless to say, the experiment failed, and within a few years the D&RGW sold its cab units to SP. SP kept its cab and hood units running until 1968.

Only one engine, SP 9010 survived. It is being faithfully restored by the Niles Canyon Railroad. While it may never run again, it will be preserved.

Now, because of the uniqueness of this locomotive, I think it would be great to see in Trainz. Now of course rule number one, if you want something, build it yourself. So, Ill take that advice, and build it myself. But, even according to the helpful people at Nile Canyon, drawings are very, very hard to find. They forward my email to someone who has a set, but I have yet to hear anything back. So I am asking the community for help as well. The below links are the only one's I have yet to find. I need more drawings then this to build at ML 4000. So if anyone knows of some, I would be very greatful

Yes, I would like to do both. Your more then welcome to help. As you know, I am terrible at textures and small details. If I build the basic's, perhaps you could finish it off with the fine details and textures. Just a thought

That'll work, and if we can get it in 3ds I can bake it.

Sounds like we have a team! I will be starting work today, since I can't get Silent Hunter V to work. Bake me some cookies while your baking the model :hehe:

Work started, further progress will be in the freeware section

Don't forget that funky DENT in the pilot. I still love the story on how the museum restoring one thought she'd had an accident, only to find out that KM actually put the dent there because of a clearance issue.

Don't worry, it is going to be based on 9010, since there is such a wealth of photos on the restoration website.
