HELP! Download Station Newbie

Hi

I bought Trainz 1.3 (yes I know OLD) a couple of years back for $10 and have just been using it over that time on a computer not connected to the internet. However now I have installed it on my computer with the internet and want to use custom content.

I have registered with Auran, and gone on to the Download Station. I can view all the items and am able to see

Download (Helper)
Dowload Page
Add to Cart

Next to any SP3 Content. However when I click Download Helper, I can't download what I want. I get a message that states

"This application has failed to start because SSLEAY31.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

I am presuming this is talking about Download Helper, which I have installed (from the Trainz website)

Can anyone help me?

Also another question related to this

How do you use the other download option (Dowload via direct FTP link)
As in where do I put the .cdp file once I have downloaded it

Any help would be much appreciated

Stephen

The file would be saved where ever you chose to save it on your PC. The early files from the DLS were not CDP's (as I recall), and could be opened with WinRAR.

Thank you for your reply Euphod

I understand saving the file however how do I get it to appear in Trainz. Do I need another application or need to save it in somewhere special?

If you're using the Download Helper to get files off the DLS, then it installs the files automatically. If you set up the DH to save the .CDP file to a certain folder (C:\Temp, in my case.) then after the file is installed a copy will be saved for you.

You might want to locate a copy of TrainzObjectz from this website, http://www.tafweb-trainz.co.uk/index.html Run this after downloading any files from the DLS and before you start Trainz and it will go through all your Dispatcher downloads and make sure they are working right.

When you use FTP it will download the file usually to your desktop.
It downloads as a .cdp unless it is an external file.

Just double click on the icon on the desktop and it will install to Trainz automatically. It brings up another window that normally has a thumbnail picture of the item. Choose extract and then you can start Trainz and it should be in there.

Depending on what build number of original Trainz you are running, you can update it so that Download Helper will work for you.

If you ask in the Original Trainz Forum, RobinHood will usually help you. He did it for me but the old memory is a bit wonky so not sure what I did.

Thank you mikeaust and ChristopherT

I now am able to download from the DS

My problem was that one loco didn't appear in the Content Dispatcher (AEB Westrail EMU) however when I tried another (1502 QR) it worked. Must be something wrong with the Westrail EMU.

EDIT: I have just tried to download a couple of other locos and they won't appear in Content Dispatcher either, the window opens but then I don't get any details or a picture (like I did for the 1502) and then I hit extract. I open Trainz and they don't appear

Any suggestions???

Thanks

Stephen

That was the same trouble I had.
Put your request in the Original Trainz forum and you will get the help there.
Check my previous post.

Stephen,
I know it has been a while since you last posted here but I stumbled across this thread and was wondering if you solved your problem? One thought I had straight away was; did you download the bogies also? I am familiar with this particular asset and downloaded it myself once. Sometimes if things won't appear (particularly in ver 1.3) it is because something is missing. For rollingstock that could be bogies or loading etc.
Hope this helps

This has been true until the last few days. However, Download Page/FTP now saves into a temp folder instead of as a CDP and immediately extracts (after the usual warning) whereas previously it was possible to scan for viruses - obviously a change of method.
