Hello again.

Bothersome

at times
I've been a Trainz user since TRS-2004. Had a great time playing it for a few years. Got 2006 and wasn't impressed over 2004. Got 2009 and still wasn't too impressed.

Then I went to RailWorks and have been happy a somewhat. But there are a lot of features missing in that one that I liked having in Trainz. So, I just bought TRS-2012 for another spin. So far I like it.

So, is there anything I need to add to my 2012 from the DLS that you guys say is a must? I'm gettig Clinchfield right now. I used to play it on 2004 for quite some time. I see it's now for 2010. Will it still work on 2012?

What other routes would you guys recommend?

MSGSapper has been updating routes to work in the later versions, I would recommend any of those for your pleasure.

Obviously i would recommend my own, but that was made according to my own personal preferences - you gotta be a bit more specific about yours, switching, long haul heavy freight, rapid transit / subway, high speed passenger? Do you get your jollies cruising for long distances admiring scenery or shoving cars in and out of industrial spurs while staying more or less in the same place? Different routes are made for different themes, there's also urban / mountain / desert / USA / Europe / Australia / Asia to be considered.

Wow. Listen, just spend some time here, you'll find lots of good stuff. Dermmy's routes are sweet. I'm a big fan of Trainzland's payware stuff, if you like trams and urban scenery. There are various, mostly-passenger, routes by Russian and Romanian developers, both payware and freeware, which are stunning. Assuming, though, you're mostly into U.S. freight, Derrmy's Checkrail and neilsmith749's UMR are good starting points, but by no means are the only high-quality routes out there.

Thanks guys for the input. I'll definitely check out what you guys recommend.

I like freight operations the best. Like driving long hauls to see the scenery but like just about anything with freight. I never grew up around passenger service. So I've never had a love for it. I have grown up and have been around freight trains most of my life.

By the way, what benefit is it to add additional serial numbers to the settings on TS2012? It already has the 2012 serial number, why would I need more?

Clinch-field had too many dependency errors to show track and a few other things. But Montana Rail Link works like a charm. It's quite long so I'll have a little exploring and playing to do there.

Thanks again for the replies.
