heard the news, This new movie is nothing good

Even so, the movie over dramatizes many aspects of the real event.

Welcome to Hollywood

But I am looking forward to this one. For the first time I can think of, its a movie based (although loosely) on a real event.

Too bad they could not have used Crazy Eights herself....

so the movie isn't realistic... is this a reason to just go ahead and say it'll suck? no.. you don't know what it will be like. is it really necissary for every movie to be realistic? no...

Just To put this in, Since A few other people mentioned how fun life would be if it was like a movie....

Reality is For Morons, Fiction is where it's at baby!

Anyway, I'm just happy It'll be Out. Puts a Good Stab Inbetween the year or two of Vampire Love storys, generic Horror Storys all Filmed at the Same Old Wood House, and the Reality Movies with too many blonds and Not enough Taxi Cabs..........Or Maybe I'm Starting too Mistake Taxi Cabs for Girls who Bleached Their Hair.... Huh.... Guess that Explains the lack of Cabs trying to run me over on my last trip to NYC....

i never said i wouldn't see it...frankly, the thought of 30'000 tons of chemicals going boom all at once feeds my inner pyromainiac:eek:

i guess it was just a bit of my inner rivet counter coming out last night. Y'all are right, its hollywood, and if they didn't over exaggarate the show, then it wouldn't be worth seeing. I am very much looking forward to this movie, even with its flaws. it would be interesting to see how they stop the train. from the looks of it, it seems like they'll do it the same way they stopped crazy eights and her maniac consist; tie and engine on the rear and put her in dynamics.

Speaking of which, now i've got to go get sporbust's CSX 40-2s, set up a consist, and send it on a crewless runaway across the Port Ogden and Northern. Of course, due to my hatred of all things diesel (except alco, of course) the rescue engine will have to be a steam engine!:hehe:

I heard part of it is being filmed around the location where the walter L main circus train derailed. You can find some good photographs of the wreck by looking up "Walter L main circus".

I think it will be entertaining, I mean at least they gave it some realism, it doesn't have a driver instead of the old "We have no air so we have no brakes" routine, which if you know anything about train brakes that's a total farce anyway.
I think it looks good, except for the patched Dash-9's. But hell, why be so picky?

Just my Thoughts,
Woody

I can say that filming a reality show is anything but fun! Picture having to do 5 seasons of Bridezillas..... Yes I was less than amused. I had more fun doing COPS and Rookies on A&E than the other stuff. I've also done an episode of Iron Chef that was pretty interesting. For the most part 95% of these "reality" shows are not reality in any way. I would often have to have people redo the scene if it didn't look the way I needed it too. Being a producer can be a huge challenge as you have to create the story you are shooting. I've had to do some crazy things in order to get a shot that I needed to have.

Are the special effects good though ? I nit picked "Runaway Train", "Atomic Train", "Dark Territory", "Broken Arrow", "3:10 To Yuma" "Breakhart Pass", Pelham 123", The Train", Bridge At Remagen", "Von Ryans Express" ... etc ... to pieces, but they were still pretty good, very enjoyable movies.

Only us rail fans know trains well ... most average railroad employees, and the common person, know little about real railroading.

if you know the rails so well, come do my job then? just because it is your hobby , doesn't mean you know more than the average railroad employee. i find your statement both rude and disrespectful to the thousands of hard working individuals who work for the many different railroads across this country who perform all the work to make it run so railfans like YOU can watch and be happy. how dare you imply that we know nothing about our jobs! trust me, im not saying we rail employees know everything, nor do we care to. however, its people like you that we encounter on a daily basis you think that just because you railfan you know more than us. so what? want a cookie? statements like that just really upset me, and if this werent' a moderated forum i might use a few choice words, however, you will be spared. just think before you speak.

snip : I find your statement both rude and disrespectful ... How dare you imply that we know nothing about our jobs! ... Want a cookie?

Most railfans, do know more than the average RR employee ! Some rare exceptional RR Employees do know more than the majority of their fellow workers: who treat it just like any other job: Go to work...come home alive...day in, and day out...nothing more than an income, a job.

There are alot (not ALL) of RR Employees that know little or nothing, beyond their own specific job decription. Some physicly hide in the woods, or in Car Inspector offices as "lounge lizzards", and in MOW trucks, as ghost employees ... working only when the boss is around.

How dare you, dare my, dare dare ! I could care less who finds it rude and disresepectful ... you have your own cookie !

I was refering to most railfans knowing more than the average RR Employee ... not myself knowing it all.

I worked with Car Inspectors that used to Non-Inspect trains ...their moto was: The train rolled in without derailing, it will roll out without derailing. And if it does derail, it will be 500 miles from here, and it will be somebody elses fault. Anything could have happened to it in its long journey ... pump it up and dump, air test. And the heck with walking a train to inspect each and every car.

Well, I never followed their slipshod negligent practice, I did my job well.

Atomic Train is downright awful! And I won't even go near the newest Pelham 123! The 70's version was respectable.

I don't care how it was done in the new Pelham 123, you simply cannot pull off a heist like that in present day NYC subway!:p

The wheels go on top of the tender right?

Golden City and San Juan Railroad, former engineer off the Lakeshore Scenic Railroad (E-Cookie if anyone actually know which railroad's I'm talking about without using google)

Ignore the armchair railroaders......

Someone should make a skin of the SD40 for Crazy Eights....

sporbust's CSX SD40-2 has ARN on it, i'm going to try and see if that ARN will produce the number 8888.

Other than that, i have no idea. I can't work a modelling program--yet--though i am going to try to get GIMP working soon, so, just keep a look out. TPR might get a sneaky upload of crazy eights soon:wave:.

Like the hell you would know kid! The average "railfan" doesn't know **** then the "average" RR employee. We have to know hundreds, if not over a thousand rules, laws, and regulations that we must abide by at all times. Following the rules is essential to job safety and continued employment. Just because you have a $500 camera and go out and stand next to a main track everyday with your foot up your ass taking pictures of all the choo choo trains rumbling past you doesn't make you more knowledgeable then the "average" RR employee.

Half right

Lakeshore Scenic Railroad is operated by Lakeside Park Company. We actually used to get help from the D&RGW back in the old days, and we have a stack of old ex-Rio Grande track in a field that will never be used

Why do you think they put an "F" on the frame sides...?

 I'd think after "Extreme Trains," you'd settle for any amount of misinformation, just to see trains on TV...:hehe:

I'd go just to hear the cool enginesounds in a theater...
