HD Resolution Missing

I have recently downloaded Trainz Plus Gold with a view to creating High Definition routes. At least I thought this was what HD Resolution meant.

Managed to download the appropriate version of the game with little or no difficulty. The Heading on the start pop-up says Trainz+. It is billed as being the ultimate in train simulation.

In Surveyor Classic all was going well so far, but in Surveyor 2.0, where I am supposed to be able to set up and use HD Resolution instead of 5 or 10 Resolution, I can find no way to set it up for HD.

The guidances that I have read so far claim that this setting can be found and set up under the Edit Menu. There are no options available in that menu to make any such change of settings.

My question is, might there be a simple solution to this that I’m missing somewhere?

You change resolution of a baseboard by using the Marquee tool to draw a square on the baseboard(s), then click on the Menu circle and choose Convert Existing Baseboards to HD Grid. The setting you are talking about doesn't choose the resolution of the baseboards but the radius of the Brush Tool. It is a bit complex so best to always choose HD for now and you will have the full range of brush sizes. BTW, new baseboards are added the same way. Draw a selection in an empty space and use the menu to Add New Baseboard in what ever resolution you want.

Appreciate your quick response Wreeder.

Did as you suggested and drew a square using the Marquee Tool.

The only option to choose that was anything like relevant was: Convert Baseboards to> 5m Grid or 10m Grid. Not a mention of HD.

Thank you too Pware.

Tried your suggestion again as on the wiki page, which I had tried before, but still no mention of HD in the choices on offer.

Are you sure you are running Trainz Plus and not TRS22 PE? The launcher should show the Trainz Plus logo above the Start Trainz button.

I only have the latest beta version of Trainz Plus installed build 131516 so I'm not sure what the stable version shows in Surveyor 2. By default, Surveyor 2 started in HD mode. You can check this by moving to the edge of a baseboard, HD baseboards have open space under them while 5 and 10m baseboards have the underground strata of dirt and rock.

If it is not showing, then you don't have the Plus version installed. If you installed the Plus version, you would have got a clean install, and none of your content would be in it.

The two Launchers are:-

HD terrain and HD options are only available in Trainz Plus (Trainz+)

I use Trainz Plus. That is why I stressed it emphatically in my initial post, to avoid doubt. The image on the launcher at startup is exactly like the second one in Pware’s latest post. My Account details tell me that I am a Trainz Plus Gold Member. They took my money without hesitation. They’ve got that bit down to a fine art.

I thought that someone might have had experience of similar issues and on how to overcome them before trying for a totally new download, which they’ve turned into a chore in itself. My reluctance in not having done so already is that I may lose everything I have already done with the resultant loss of time and money.

Thanks anyway guys. Your efforts on my behalf are much appreciated.

Did you check this:

There is a new patch for the stable version of Trainz Plus released this morning. I would install it before doing anything else. The announcement thread is in the Beta subforum. It will bring you up to the next stable version of Trainz Plus.
