Have you seen the anouncment from Tony?

I am less then impressed as well. Lots of talk again about "the best ever" but not a single message about FIXING the previous versions first. The ones they have already taken our money for.

I wouldn't be surprised if TS2009 has Driver in it as well. TEE seems to be more like Trainz Driver Edition. If the World Builder Edition didn't have Driver in it, it wouldn't suit the content creators who create locos and like to test them as well.

Did you notice that TC3 doesn't appear in the tables. Tc2 does though where I'd expect TC3 to be.

I noticed that as well John.

Nobody is perfect though. I am not expecting this game to be perfect either. We all make mistakes, some just can't be forgiven like others can. We can all namea few.

No offense to anyone but you guys need to re-read the whole thing again. I took this directly from the TS2009 site.

TS2009 will include the familiar Surveyor, Driver, Railyard, Content Manager and Content Creator modules and of course the new Trainz Online module. It will come with a huge range of built-in content from previous editions to ensure backwards compatibility and a straight forward upgrade path We realize many users have invested thousands of hours into creating their own routes and we want to ensure they can be up and running quickly and easily in TS2009.

Following the release of TS2009 we will be working with a number of content creation groups to develop the best quality routes ever seen, for inclusion in Trainz Simulator 2009: Engineers Edition (TEE).

TEE will include a simplified Content Manager and will not include the Surveyor or Content Creator modules. With the new Trainz Online module, users will be able to discover and download new freeware and/or payware content. There will be a new interface which will allow users to set their "Driver Session Parameters" and also for trains to be placed on the tracks from within Driver.

Users can upgrade from TEE to the full TS2009 edition to gain access to Surveyor and the additional content creation utilities, and similarly, TS2009 owners can decide if they want to purchase the new routes and content that comes with TEE or not.

Like I said, I mean no disrespect and am not trying to offend anyone but it couldn't be more clear than this.

I'm quite impressed with the progress being made on the product as well as the laid out specifications. I expected something like the old Auran soon (tm) that we had before. :)

I can't wait for the new release to come out. :D

John

I'm also very impressed; that shot of the track is absolutely stunning!

To those folks complaining about the price...$29.99 + $29.99 = $59.98 which is exactly what most new games cost. I daresay most of us spend $30 a week on coffee/beverage of choice. Pretty good deal in my eyes.

Darrel

The '06 that I bought new cost me $39.95 about two weeks after it hit the shelf and that was years ago. I don't think '09 will be less then this...

I think it's confusing. I think they should include everything that's in TEE in the Dev edition. This is retarded:

I personally would want everything in one package like previous releases. Auran please once both editions are released, released a full version including everything from both for simplicity.

If you look at Trainz Dev they also have a station comparison. You'd be in for a nice surprise.

I have a feeling of dėjà vu coming on. Remember the jigsaw? :(
Hind sight may be 20/20, but the trouble with walking through life backwards is you can't see where you're going and you usually trip a lot....:hehe: Of course, the advantage is you get to see everyone who is passing you by and that presents opportunities to whine...:'(
I'm pleased with the 5m cutting....been hoping for that!

I don't know what some of you are reading. Here is what I see.

First, TRS2009 in November.
This seems to be for existing users of Trainz. New program to create new routes in and content for. Some new built-in content and older content from earlier versions brought up to work in TRS2009.

To be fair this will be no different than what you'll get when MSTS2 ships. The idea is to get the tools in our hands so that we can create new routes and content at the TRS2009 standard.

Later, Two versions for mostly new users. A "Driver" module without route building functions and a second "Surveyor" module for building routes and content. It looks as though these two half can be put together to have the whole TRS2009 package that came out in November.

This is a smart idea if you ask me. Work newbies in a little at a time.

I see NO reason for anyone to buy all three packages unless you want to. Most people on this forum need only buy the whole package in November and then add content to it. As new content becomes available just download it and add it. If you want the new routes and content then wait for the 2 piece version. It's your choice. Myself, I'm happier than a pig in a mud hole.

Last but not least, a multi-player version is planned for the future.

Thank you Auran.

William

You got it wrong. There's the Dev version & the engineer version. Dev version has surveyor and all just no routes and such built-in. Engineer version doesn't have surveyor, but has built-in routes and rolling stock.
I think there should be a third full version that contains both the other versions in one package.

It depends on what is meant by upgrading the TEE version. If this is just the standalone version of TRS2009 then there are two versions installed on your hard drive like TRS2006 and TRS2006 Driver. It could be a patch that overwrites TEE and moves the routes and content into the full version.

Either way buy TRS2009 in November and TEE in early 2009 if you want everything.

Oh yeah all the hype looks good and the screenies, think I'll wait to see if this runs with any sort of stability and without the CMP problems. Naturally we've been promised that this is the best train sim ever. On Auran's past record their products have been released undertested and with a lot problems. Despite the hype is this likely to change? The recent TC3 release wouldn't give give much hope for that. If TRS2009 is the usual flawed Auran programme I'll be looking elsewhere, MSTS2 maybe. I'm happy with what I'm running now. I buy these programmes for enjoyment, not to be mucking around trying to get CMP or the game to open or correcting errors. Who needs that again? Once I thought Auaran made great stuff but have had too much of this crap to think that now, and if some don't like that tough.
