Have I been handed the shaft?

I just wrote the helpdesk concerning my Ts2009 purchase. This is what I wrote
"TS2009 Purchase
I Purchased a copy of Trainz 2009 World builder Beta edition. Invoice number 224261-193704-81267 I got 2 emails..... 1st was confirmation of the order 2nd was a letter with instructions and a link to the download. I got the the link to the discounts on the various products you are offering. I did not get a serial number.....Where it was supposed to appear in the email is totally blank. When can I expect to get a download link that will actually work and get a serial number also.

This is the reply I got back

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your message, Beta testing has now finished and we are hoping to release the game very soon. Thanks for your contributions and your order. Hope you enjoy the game.

Regards,

Even though beta testing has ended, should I not get the temporary serial that will at least allow me to get a look at the game :(

I don't think you have been shafted.

You did not buy the beta vesion of TS2009, you paid for the final debugged retail version.

The serial number that you think you are missing is the number for the TS2009 Beta which you would have been given if you had pre-purchased earlier. It is not the number for the final release which is what you are paying for. That number will be given to you when you get that final retail version.

As the reply says, Beta testing is closed so access to the Beta versions is no longer available.

Cheers

You didn't purchase the beta. you pre-ordered the full non-beta version. Since they have moved on from having new people getting testing the beta; you no longer have access to it.

as for your final question. Not really as it is a beta; not a demo. a beta is designed for finding the flaws not for getting an early glimpse at the game; which is what a demo is.

Hi Roger,

Im certainly not trying to give you the shaft, though helpdesk today has been inundated with hundreds of messages about no beta serial number. I'm awaiting a reply form Tony on what the latest is, though I know how close the game is for release and that Beta is now all but finished.

I can give you my own beta number for you to use, though that that does not solve either of our problems.

Alan Yeomans.

Thank You

Alan---Thank you for your forum response. At least it was more personal than those canned responses I got earlier from the help desk. What really upsets me though is that it says some where that the beta version is supposed to be available until December 7th. Whether or not I get to participate in the beta forum or not is not important. I, as it sounds to me, many of us we are being denied the opportunity to preview the game even if it does not contain the fixes that were suggested by the beta testers. I thought that a preview of the game at was one of the rewards for pre-ordering.;)

It appears that a sudden last minute rush of pre-orders has used up all the Beta serial numbers. Our website administrator is unavailable for a few days and so we're so we're working out what our options are his weekend.

Tony, some of us may have 2 after being part of Trainz Dev and preordering. I have a spare Serial no, so do you want those with another serial, to send our details back?

Put me on the me-too list!

Yep, I preordered the 2009 version, received the invitation which was complete with NO serial number. Guess I should have wandered the forum here a little before ordering, seeing how I can't preview the game now this weekend, as I had hoped. Seems kinda silly that you didn't allow extra serial numbers for the beta just in case you received a large influx of preorders. This certainly puts a damper on my weekend now :(

You are not having too bad a future. At least you are brave enough to buy the game on-line and will have it some day. Me, and countless others who depend on retail shops, will have to wait till Auran realizes this is a bad business decision.

Please contact the helpdesk who are manually issuing Beta serial numbers.
