Has anyone solved the severe Surveyor hang problem?

Well, I'm back to a slideshow today. I took a consist out for a drive on the route I'm working on and the freezing and stuttering was so bad that I got disgusted and went flying.

Running Trainz in a Window, I also had TADDaemen open to monitor the activity. While in driver, each and every time I changed viewing angle, zoomed in or out, or opened/closed the map, TADDaemon would register a command. As soon as the command started, Trainz would freeze to the point it would whitescreen with 'not responding' in the title bar. In three miles of travel, it did this every 10 or 15 seconds - and the freeze would last anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. Meanwhile, TADDaemon went blithely issuing commands and saving the database - every 30 seconds.

Whatever has been done to make this once-great game suck so badly has finally done me in. After backing up my entire Trainz directory (and subdirectories) I uninstalled Trainz. This is the first time it has been off my gaming computer in over 10 years (in one version or another). It will not be coming back.

TRS2004, the version that was, and is, so much fun to run - and the version for which I wrote all those programs to enhance it - is running on one of my other computers and that is what I'm staying with. To heck with all the newer versions. This version still runs without the stroboscopic stalls, failures, CM crash-to-desktop, and all the other ills of the later versions - especially TS2012SP1HF4. I mention CM for TS2012 because I have yet to make CCP function if the KUID list is longer than one page. When attempting to scroll down the list CCP will crash to the desktop immediately. It has NEVER functioned properly in my installation.

This is NOT one of those 'farewell cruel Trainz' threads. Quite the contrary. I will still be around to help as best as I can. Especially if there is anything I can do to find out just what the heck is going on with TS2012 and these stupid freeze-frame antics.

Bill
