Has anyone said this to you if you post a picture of a train on facebook?

well I don't have a big bunch of people on my face book and the ones I do have know I like any thin railroad related and don't have a problem with itt

Most of my "Friends" are members of the Flight Sim group I am a member of. Then a hand full of HS folks, family, and fellow Trek fans.

I grew up as a known fan of

Railroads
Aircraft
Star Trek / and other Sci Fi

It was not an easy childhood.

And I used to hang around with people like you when I was growing up because I like railroads and aircraft, and Classical music. One of my buddies liked all of the above just as you did. The problem is we weren't jocks, and couldn't give a large fart about football. If we were OCD over football, then this wouldn't have been a problem.

This is exactly why I don't talk about trains on Facebook or with my friends in general. You just don't know who you can trust.

On another note, am I the only one who finds it odd that it's perfectly acceptable to like cars but not trains?

Might be different era, when I was a kid all the kids liked trains. There were no trekkies because it wasn't on TV yet, we had Flash Gordon which all the kids liked. My little brother was a natural target for bullies, so 90% of the fights I had in elementary school were because of someone picking on him. The other 10% were mostly over what I did to make money - killing rats and taking them to the Bureau of Sanitation yard for the bounty. So I guess I could say I did get laughed at or sneered at occasionally, but never twice by the same kid. That's the one thing that probably hasn't changed since the 1950s, if you make up your mind that you will be respected for who you are and refuse to be a victim, the bullies will look for easier targets.

You: I like trains.
Joe Cool: Trains are not cool.
You: They are NOW, because I like them, you got a problem with that?

Put on your war face and most won't even try it.

Speaking of large farts, my favorite assault weapon is a raw onion...

When I use it in the presence of annoying people I refer to it as "deploying countermeasures"

i always post about trains on facebook and my profile is full of trains and i also encounter same conversation with my friends who hate trains but i defend trains and always win

Have you noticed, those of you who live in the UK that is. That even the political presenter on This Week seens to get some pleasure in mentioning 'SAD MAN ON A TRAIN 'CHO CHO' week after week. The ex politician who is currently doing some very good rail documentary journeys around Britain looks as though he may hit the presenter at some point as along with 10 years of BLUE NUN it is getting very annoying.

I get the occasional "why do you like steam locomotives, they are old and useless" then I normaly retaliate with "why do you like what you like" people just don't realize how important trains are. If it weren't for trains a lot of things wouldn't be around. Such as the Central West of Australia, it was trains that started to bring more people over the Blue Mountains.

same here when I was like 3 and then at five years old my dad kept saying" Your to old for Thomas" And all I said was "noo!" :hehe: but also here is what also got me started on trains. in a video of me on my first Christmas we had been living at my Nana's at the time and so my papa had a Christmas trainset with a station that had the ringing bells and anyways in the video I'm sitting in front of the trainset staring at it like this is interesting then my dad starts ringing the bells on the station and I guess in the middle I think I remember seeing myself smile and my dad looking at me noticing I was enjoying it. Second there is another video I can't remember if it was a year later but there is another video of my dad bringing me downstairs to the playroom (we were still at my Nana's house I guess and anyways its my dad with me watching my first electric train set and it was HO scale and it was a Santa FE Ge I think and my dad is saying" look what Santa brought you" ahhh good times
But one last thing we were picking up a friend of my mom at an Amtrak station underground and so my dad held me up to see the train and as it came in it ended up blasting the horn all the way back in so I was screaming the whole time :hehe:
