well anyways almost what that last post was like where some kid was insulting trains well here is what happened:
person: why are you obsseesed with trains?
other person: ikr
me: ok so what i like trains WHATS WRONG WITH THAT?!
Person uhm well you are a teen and trains are for 5 year olds JUST SAYING
Me: NO! WELL WHY ARE THERE FRIEGHT TRAINS AND COMMUTER TRAINS THEY CONNECT ALL THE DIFFRENT PARTS OF THE WORLD!
Person: its the weekend i don't need a lesson on trains!
Me: its not a lesson i am just saying how it does not matter if i like trains because they are not for just little kids

person: I don't care

Ultimately if someone has an issue with you rail pics, then that's their problem I wouldn't worry about it.

There are some good groups sharing rail images on FB that might be worth checking out.

As you get older you worry less about what other people think. Here's one of my facebook profile pics;

Yeah, I like Thomas the Tank Engine, you got a problem with that?!

Most of my friends know I like trains, albeit some of the girls may not exactly find it all that attractive, but my good looks and modesty make up for it :p

I don't obsess over it tho, although sometimes I occasionally post a pic to a friend as a joke

I've learnt from Primary School that showing your obsession with trains was a bad idea, well, at least in public. Now I'm in my final year of secondary school and frankly I could give a s*** what people think; heck, I designed a passenger carriage from my Visual Communications class and got a very good mark and I plan to design a locomotive livery this year. Of the friends who know I like trains, none could give a damn. Go with what these guys say, just listen to what those tossers say. It's just sad that people have to firstly associate liking trains with Thomas the Tank Engine, but hey, it had to start somewhere.

Cheers

First: Facebook and so-called "social media" in general is stupid.

Second, either be a p---- or say, yeah, I like trains, and tell what's cool about them.

Seriously, it's like anything else about the internet, it can be used or misused. The primary reason I signed up was to monitor my youngest son's activities (he's 23 but autistic) and quickly discovered it works much better than email for keeping in touch with old friends and family scattered across the continental US. Be selective about who you add to your friends list, stay away from the scams and online games and you'll have no problems with it. Got a sister in Florida, a brother in Nevada, cousin in Oregon, niece in Texas and another niece in California, you can keep up to date with pictures and posts every day.

heres a good rule of thumb, if some one in public asks you about trains, tell them if no body asks you keep the old trap shut about trains, I don't talk about trains with my friends unless they ask, they all know i have an bit of an interest, i just leave it at that, i have a facebook HERE and i post pics of trains every now and again, nobody has made fun of me for it, and if they do its a good think I don't give a flying !@#$ what anyone thinks.

then ask them why the hell they asked in the first place if they don't care.

People can't help liking what they like. And to try and FORCE someone not to like (or like) something is useless.

In my case, I love the music & dancing of the Japanese girls of Hello!-Project production company and I'm considered an "old man." Because of my age, a lot of younger people might consider me a "dirty old man." Why? It's the music & dancing I enjoy... and yes, they are all really cute. But I certainly don't get any kind of sexual thrill out of looking at them. It's just something I discovered years ago and have kept up with their careers and happen to like their music and dancing.

BUT--- since I'm 66 years old, am I supposed to ACT like an old man? Am I supposed to LIKE STUFF an old man should like? Am I supposed to force myself to NOT LIKE stuff younger people like? Getting old is a curse. People expect you to behave like an old person. BLAH! It's not my fault I grew older! If I want to like something, dammit I'm gonna like it!

In your case, you happen to like Trains. For someone to try and tease you out of not liking them is not only heartless but sad. People need to chill out and realize everyone is different, we all have different wants and needs, and we all have things we DO like and things we DON'T like.

Be GLAD you're somewhat different! Don't give in to idiotic peer pressure!

Cheers,

Dave

You know I gave up caring about people think along time ago. I was once told that "you can never please 100% of people 100 % of the time" Yes I do have a Face book page and I have tons of train pictures on there. All of the people that I have as Friends on FB share the same interest. Further more, I have web site dedicated to trains. And when I was coming up I was teased very bad about liking trains. It didn't bother me. Look no one has the right to tell you what you can or can not like. It's your opinion and don't let anyone change it for you. Just my two cents.

Geez, Jim, "Thomas" was around that long? That photo looks like it was taken in the 70's!

About your case, Kenny, they're just a bunch of mindless idiots. I've went on a huge streak on railfanning the BNSF Staples Sub and posted most of my photos to Facebook. Only one person (Not giving names) suggested I stop posting anything about trains, in which a railfan buddy of mine responded with it being my hobby. I guess I'm just lucky to not have any brainless rail-haters polluting my Facebook wall. Trains are for five year-olds? Yeah right. That XBox 360 of yours probably came from a train.

It's alway's the same with the "grey crowd " , when you don't match , your odd.
I think the odd-ones are the onlyone who gives colour to the society .

I'm riding a motor bike , a big cruiser but i'm 60 years old so people are saying " He is gonna need it for his menopause"

I belong to a big group of railroad enthusiasts up there. Some of them happen also to be storm-chasers so we share severe storm stories with trains, lol! :)

One of the "liked" websites I belong to is http://www.american-rails.com/ which I think you guys would enjoy.

I learned early in high school it wasn't a good idea to wear my Eagle Scout uniform during boy scout week to school or mention I had won several 1st place awards state-wide in the NMRA for RR model construction. Definately considered "un-cool" by those who had thier own idea of what was cool and what wasn't. A few kids knew I built model trains but they had similar hobbies such as model planes and R/C boats. One teacher was a model RR,er as well and had the same problem. Kids thought there was something wrong with him "playing" with trains as an adult. It all boils down to peer pressure. Kids that age are terrified of not "fitting in". Besides - I was a motorcycle riding tuba player in the band (not at the same time, ha ha). Not excactly a combination guarenteed to get me into the "in crowd", lol. Didn't bother me then and doesn't bother me 51 years later.
