has anyone reskinned an RS3 to look like this?

might be back?
The RS3 that I am looking for is Delaware and Hudson 1776, or as it is now, Tioga Central Railroad's freight engine.
Old paint.

New Tioga Central Paint scheme. It has a different running number and is missing the logos and stars and the paint is pretty weathered. (though you can still see the outlines.)

The reason that i am asking is that I helped work on this engine over the summer and think that it is a beautiful and different paint scheme. Another reason that i am asking is that i am absolutly horrible at reskinning.

Thanks

I could probably do it. Just find me a locomotive similar to that, one that the creator won't mind if it is re-skinned. Post here when you do (I have subscribed to this thread so I will get an E-mail when you post). The only thing is that it will look almost brand-new because I'm not very good at weathering.

There is no model like that, closest is the RS3 by gumbytrain but the short hood isn't chopped and the extra stuff isn't there.

yeah i have noticed the differences too. Such as the fact that the RS3s that are on the DLS prefer to run Long hood forward when in the forward position. none the less i wouldnt mind having as close to the loco as possible paint wise. I have asked a few ppl about the reskin.

this one might work. 52779:9901 I am trying to get a hold of the creator. It seems that his loco was actually the one that the other reskins came from.

I absolutely love bicentennials....

I absolutely love bicentennials no matter what road or make and I would love to have that D&H bicentennial.:udrool: :mop:

I wouldnt mind having both. Its too bad that noone ever made a lowhood RS3 (im guessing that thats what this is.) Also, yeah the bicentenials are very awsome.

OMG i just remembered that it had a sister locomotive. i actually found some pictures of it. Not sure what it is. (my knowlege of loco types isnt that good yet but i think it is a U-Boat) If you are feeling ambitious you can reskin this one as well but it isn't as important as the RS3. heres the pics.

And a picture of a model of it. These are the only pics that i could find.

The low-hood RS3 is rare, I think only a few railroads no more than fingers on one hand had it.
The U-Boat is a UxxB type, I forget which, not available and I don't know who if anyone is working on a model.

I think the D&H had U25Bs. They had a short life in Guilford paint when GTI acquired the D&H. I remember seeing them along with Alcos going through Andover, MA on the old B&M Portland mainline during this period. What I do remember distinctly is the some of the Alcos were painted in the Lehigh Valley pain scheme with D&H stenciled in. I don't know whether the U-boats and Alcos were scrapped or got sent back to the D&H after GTI sucked what they could out of the road.

I never remembered seeing any Alco RS3s with low short hoods either.

Checked a book I have with NE railroad pics.
The chopped RS3 is a Morrison-Knudson TE56-4A rebuild, D&H had 8 done, in addition to physical differences the prime mover was changed to a 12 cyl 251 and a HP increase to 2000.
The U-Boat is a U23B.

Thanks. I couldn't remember if they were U25s or U23s last night. I thought about it later as I was falling asleep. The MEC had a few U-boats as well that they got from the Rock Island. They still had "The Rock" on the side of them with MEC stenciled in. GTI scrapped them very shortly afterwards.

Are those what are commonly called "sharks"? If so, the only ones I know of come from Lanrvr1, and he doesn't allow re-skinning...

oh i wasnt referring to the Baldwin Shark, i was referrring to the Uboat next to it. Engine 1776 (uboat) and 1976 (RS3) were sister Bicentenial Locomotives on the line.

Okay, good. I am working on the paint, but I can't release it until you get permission from the creator:confused: ... I'll get a few screenshots up soon.
