I am glad you noticed the oddity about Halloween robd. One wonders what other strange "happy event" we will get next. Maybe a thread on male Trainzers on father's day or mother's days for women? Two more excuse for money making! For many it sems harmless but some folk get so mawkiah on just abouta nything truth be known! Add to halloween the paganism that it illustrates today with horror films and such on the back of marless Halloween )>)and you do have to wonder. I stick by what i said and think it's daft (!). :n:

what do you mean by odd? i love Halloween all the scares and frights its by far my favorite time of the year!

Could be considered 'odd' in a thread that's purely about TS12! Not to mention Halloweens pagan origins.

Again, I agree with you rjhowie. It's one of those traditional European pagan festivals/events that have been taken across the Atlantic to the Americas by settlers in the past and somehow has been caught up in the commercialism of the USA and then bounced back at us across the Atlantic as a purely commercial event, hence the 'Happy Halloween' syndrome with all it's attendant profiteering e.g. cards, presents and Halloween outfits for kids etc.

I think Christmas has suffered the same fate somewhat, how many hideous Santa Claus type movies have been made in US? Quite a few I believe!

Extremely daft, as you say rjhowie.

Rob.

Children, and some adults enjoy Halloween and other holidays. Yes, we terrible Americans stole everything from everyone else, then we remake it and enjoy it and sell it back to you!:o

If you can contrast the joy of a child dressed in a costume having fun and getting free candy with your own jealous, bitter lives you may begin understand it better.

Oh dear, how sensitive and defensive is that? Hope you enjoy your free toffees.

I fail to see why thinking Halloween is pointless or why it should be highlighted here means you are bitter or jealous that isn't too mature and is rather daft too! You are right there robd about things that bounce across the Atlantic and come back suitably commecialised. It's been one of those regular facts of life (!). What will we get next on Trainz Forums? Maybe a thread on Father's Day for male parent Trainzers - a similar one for females? Maybe it is a culture thing betwen different parts of the world but such can get a wee bitty mawkish. As a child i remember my youth organisation having a party but as it says somewhere very special i grew out of childish things!

Whether people enjoy Halloween or have doubts about it are equal for review it's just that I don't see a point in it here on Trainz. Instead, I will look forward to something more positive than a pointless event and that being Christmas but the spiritual dimension not the stolen commercial version! :)
