I tried to log into the CMP to copy my route to a cdp on a portable HD as normally do but I am blocked for access to the CMP. I get a box saying......"This programme can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your programme. Try reinstalling this programme to fix this problem." So I obviously need o get into the CMP so I searched the Net for this file and have downloaded what is a folder (with 5 items in I tto the desktop for the time being so what do I do now? What I am tring to avoid doing is taking a copy of the whole of my Trainz which I have on an older pc.

Hello Shane,

Thanks for getting back to me as this is holding me up somewhat. Can you (ehrm!) clarify how one actually updates the DirectX

You can find out which version of directx you have by clicking start and typing in dxdiag.....then go to Microsoft support, find your version and download and install updates.

I have DirectX 11on my Windows 7 but still no further on about trying re-installing it. Spent some time on the Windows Support and got a page that listed different versions of DirectX11 but cannot see where you download and of them. One page said to continue to the next for downloads so thought that would be it but it didn't and I just got into a confused situation. I am of course still stuck with no access to the CMP meantime.

I have a sticky thread relating to this in General Trainz. You can either use my DXInstallHelper tool, or you can follow the manual update instructions.

Thanks Sourdough, Shane and John. Appreciate your assistance as I am now seeing the CMP again (!). Now I can get on with my Irish build once more. Salutations from the centre of the world (Glasgow of course). Thanks again. Bobby

No problem. I originally made the DXInstallHelper tool to simplify the installation of the DirectX redistributable (and yes, it does know what parameters to use). I'm glad to see it being put to good use.

Yep, was a great help and got me over my delay. Much appreciated. Oh, before I forget I sent a PM on another query.
