Hi guy's i have a question ,is it possible to slow down the starting speed a bit? i really like the new toys i really do ,it's nice to see some mkt power ,but these baby's seem to have a "dumped the clutch takeoff speed" i'm not ranting just saying i 'd feel safer operating them with a fire suit/ helmet / and 5 point harness .

really? seems like in testing i made the comment that it felt exactly like a real one far as the enginespec went. i will try again and see if we should change anything.

Engine spec created on real data and corresponds to real prototype.
Most likely you use DCC mode?
Take 2000 ton consist on 2% track grade in Engineer mode with one units (1500hp). Nothing will not to change with spec. But i'm will check DCC mode now.

i'm ok with them as i said ,but you may want to include a " wheelie bar" in a new mesh J/K! nice work tho i like them i was thinking of using photoshop to layer on the engine's qualifying time on the window! for the quarter mile. GP7 94 "10.14"

you are correct it just needed a bit more train with weight ...put two together with no consist and lookout ! looks like most of the numbers in this set lasted up untill around 1990 .

Good point, bunkerrat. I feel that the new Geeps also stop a little too quickly. I went from 15 mph to 0 in about 1.5 seconds.

agreed, but hell it's a new release and maybe it needs a little tweek or not either way i'm all good with them ,if i may ask the JR. team could we get a third mkt unit with dynamic brakes with a arn series that went to the CNW? not a gimmieware unit but a payware 3rd for the set? and for the last unasked question , what changes in config can i incur to make the smoke a bit darker and a bit more mass ?

thanks

Also, not to rant, but I find that the notching up takes quite a bit of time. Is it prototypical for it to be 5 or so secs after notching up the hear the prime mover respond?

I have a small question similar to CRQ4125's; let's say I increase or decrease the throttle of a locomotive and there is a delay before the (smooth) enginesound transition occurs. Does the power output correspond to these enginesounds or is the change in throttle setting effective immediately?

Nicholas

in this case it is probably more related to the length of the engine sound sample playing at the time. as for your question about throttle response - in trainz, it is probably a smooth transition ramp starting soon as you move the throttle. in real life, it could depend on a lot of factors from the generator to the engine governor.

Nope. Just for once a locomotive in TRS has an independent brake factor that is close to the prototype. (not hatin just sayin)

@justin you may want to recheck the sound file it seems as tho it goes silent for a few seconds every so often, not a complaint,i 'll push it down the tracks if i have too!

no that is one of the limitations of the software and is one reason i do not offer startup/shutdown locomotives as a standard feature on my own content. i leave this up to the creator and Alex has elected to use the feature.

Yeah, it's true. But this is not problem, this is featured of doppler effect (appear with scripted sounds). Matter of habit.

And about gear ratio. I will check DCC mode and maybe install some tags. In Engineer mode engine spec working well.

ok as i said not a complaint now i have been informed ! i'm having a good time with them ,i quess it's i'm always running six axel sd power ,these little things are fun again thanks for these ,hope to see some more !

Justin, is this problem on N3V and can be fixed in time, or will the software always have this limitation?

it is half and half. the workarounds i have to take to play the sounds do not get the same sound channel priority a normal engine sound does, also they are effected differently by the 3d (doppler) processing of the software. my hope is that someday the more advanced sound options will be available to us through the software by default and will not require such workarounds in script to make a reality.
