I'm not sure if this is old news or not... Been running TS2010EE since it came out and always had trouble with fps - sometimes so bad it's completely unusable:hehe: ... So I fanally got around to addressing all my faulty content (8840 items of 188k) Stopped being lazy and ran it all through PEV's software and learned how to edit some through CCP and explorer (bad tags and the like) and VOILA..... this thing runs smooth as silk with tons of speedtrees (see route ozark valley ver1.5 by davesnow or Avery-Drexel by TUME)... If I'd have known this before, maybe I'd have saved a lot of cash on RAM and video cards:hehe:

I just might, I've never uploaded anything to dls yet. I'm not a content creator (yet) but have been fairly successful tweaking things to work correctly. Definately don't want to step on any toes or upset any original authors by changing their originals. Any advice on how to go about this?

(edit) Just clicked your link... I'll read up ther and se what I can do - thanks!

Congratulations on your hard work! I've been saying this all along. This is why the "new" standards were implemented for the newer content, much to people's complaints. With faulty content and compatibility mode, the program has to filter through and parse errors in order to make things operate properly. With native mode there is none of this second step, so everything talks right to the program code without going through a translator and filter, making the whole operation a whole lot smoother.

Thanks JCitron, I guess I just had to quit procrastinating :hehe: I had always figured faulty content was just dismissed as unusable by the program - I almost always run in compatibility mode (too many assets to update) and even that is running great. So I took on an asset to fix from the dls project, fixed it, and now am unable to update the kuid to upload it. Won't pass verification with the new kuid2 # I get an error on committing "Error: Unable to commit changes to asset <kuid:30671:100100> as the config file contains the wrong KUID" Any Ideas?

I have no idea about the kuid issue. What kinds of things did you change? Perhaps one of us can help you.

You're welcome anyway. I did this when I first got 10 and later on 12. It took a very long time to go through my downloads then, so now whenever there are content errors, particularly from 3rd party sites, I go through the content immediately and fix the items so they don't build up.

You cannot open a piece of content for edit, change the kuid and then commit the content. The CM is preventing you from performing this operation. You must clone the content, or open it for edit in explorer, then copy the object's folder to the desktop, make your changes, then use the "Import content" function under file to bring it back into CM with a new kuid number that will obsolete the former number.

Ahh.... IMPORT!! Got it. Can't clone it as it's an asset for the DLS scleanup and it's not mine. That's why CM was giving me so much trouble because it's not my KUID. Thanks for the info (and I wish N3V would try posting correct instruction on their dls cleanup page)

You're welcome, but as far as I know you can clone objects that aren't yours, otherwise.... what's the point?

I don't have a 'major' problem with FPS. But I'm curious about the effects of faults (flagged red) and warnings (flagged yellow).

Would only faults have an effect on processing, or would warnings have an effect too?

wow got tied up working etc for almost a month:eek: As far as I understand it, when faulty content exists, Trainz has to take the time to work around the faulty content. It wasn't as noticable in earlier versions as the validation was much more lax and some of these guys got away with murder in the config files. I only wish I knew then what I know now, I'd have never let them build up.:o Now that I'm getting ready for TS12 it's a whole new animal cleaning up. I've considered leaving all the old content out when I do install 12 and do the big import from my backup drive as I've still got 06, 09, and 2 versions of ts2010 (44088 and multiplayer) all stand alone on this PC.
